formulas for character creation

By Rayne Avalon, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

hey, i have a great deal of the character creation process understood. at least for a ki user. im still a little afraid to go anywhere near the psychic or magic stuff. my big thing is determining some of my stats and stuff. i dont get alot of the formulas like determining base attack and the class bonus. simple things like that i find very confusing at this point. if anyone could help me by just telling me the simple formulas and stuff.

Be specific about what exactly you're asking.

Base attack/defence/anything is the value you have obtained by investing DP into it. In short, the formula would be V= DP/C, where DP is the amount of DP invested, C is the cost in DP for 1 point in that ability, and V the value obtained, knowing that V must be a whole number, either equal or bigger than 0 (meaning that DP is therefore a multiple of C). In the case of Attack/Defend, it would often translate as V= DP/2, since any class with a cost of 3 makes investing in that ability uninteresting.

Class bonus is dead simple. It is simply the bonus to a specified ability confered by the specific class, dependent on its levels. If you really need a formula, then B=b*L, where B is the full bonus, b is the bonus per level, and L is the level of the character. I don't know about the others, but I go by the principle that a level 0 character does not receive such a bonus (since it would then be B= b*0=0). Important to note that not all classes have the same bonuses, that not all classes have bonuses, and that any bonus to Attack/Defend is limited to a +50 maximum.

Anything else?

thanks, now all i need is to figure out what kind of starting equipment and martial arts to give my character. anyone have any suggestions for things like that to give a shadow class daimah character?

I think it might be better if you tried to imagine a day/week in the life of your character. What utilities would he need? He'd probably be equipped enough to stay alive during what he expects to be doing, if he isn't at home and the work is dangerous. He might have some cinnamon sticks to give to the kids he meets. Your equipment gives you character cool.gif My player's Monk PC started with only a small backpack of repair tools, 1 GC, and some trail rations... thats what a travelling monk (in my world) would have. Soldiers would start with some low-cost stock equipment, as provided by their employment... and their weapon of choice (they definitely would have bought one with their own wages if it hadn't been provided).

thanks since im making my shadow character a merc/assasin so i think ill start him off with a ninja module and a katana, some light leather armor, a few rations and some shuriken. only thing i have a hard time figuring out how to track my shuriken count on the character sheet heh.

In that case, depending how fast you use them, and if you go back and pick them up, etc...

Track them using a die. This'l get annoying if you use them lots and lots. If you don't have a fancy calculator that you can use, then I'm going to recommend scratch paper. Keep it with your character sheet. If you're a perfectionist or whatever, then go back at the end of the session and mark how many shuriken you have on your character sheet. If you're in a long campaign, you don't want to be erasing on your char sheet a whole lot.

thanks for all the help. should have the character sheet done now. whats the best way to let someone critique it on here. just upload it in a post or what?
