Tau grav-tanks

By AkumaKorgar, in Deathwatch

Okay, this is a question for all you Tau fans out there.

Just how high can Tau skimmers, like Devilfish and Hammerheads get? I made up vehicle stats for Tau tanks in Deathwatch since my campaign is set in the Canis Salient, but I'm not sure just how much freedom of movement the Tau should have.

For example, I'm planning a battle to hold a town with a strategic bridge from a Tau assault. The bridge is overlooking a deep canyon-like ravine. Could Tau Devilfish jump this ravine, or would they have to use the bridge?

i'd say that they'd have a max altitude of at least a few hundred to a few thousand feet, 2000ft or so would be my own opinion. they're not dedicated aircraft meant to fly high but their technology is not based off of current hovercraft tech where you need an enclosed curtain of air underneath. They should easily be able to cross all but the highest ravines.

i forgot to add that the sky ray box cover art shows a tau vehicle high enough that you can't even see the ground so thats at least a few thousand feet.

eldar grav tanks can fly (theres an apoc data sheet about it) I would assume the Tau can but nothing in the fluff says so. I would read it they have a limited ceiling as the atmopshere thins as they climb , in some of the tau fluff (Taros campaing i think) it implies the tau grav tanks can glide in from a high altitude insertion (via manta) but couldnt climb to this hieght
