Technical problem

By PsyKoStorm, in StarCraft

I bought the Brood War expension and there is a printing error on the Star order token of the red terran. The printing is not on the same side as the other order token and that cause an obious problem. It's really easy to dertermine when the player place this order...

Can i do something to get an other star order token?

Thanks

PS: The star order token is not the only piece of the expension with this problem, but its the other piece that cause trouble in the gameplay if its not changed.

Sorry for my english, I tryed my best.

You should contact FFG User Support on the main page:

http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_atencion.asp

and sent a message to customer support and tell them about your problems, they will probably sent you replacement parts. They have helped me excellent in the past happy.gif .

Generelly, the star-order-token is shaped a tiny bit differently...more edgy, I suppose...than the original orders and can be determined by the skilled eye. But then again, it helps the other player naught - could be any order, just as with a normal order ^^

I guess I would almost always use the star order as a first order (executed last) in my main base anyway - if someone attacked me, I strike back, otherwise I build or research! ;)

Notice that BW have the same problem with small planet tokens. This new ones had a planet miniature on the reverse side.

Just so. The greatest problem is the star-order, though, because you can avoid the problem with the planet tokens by simply counting them off or putting them in a bag and drawing them randomly.

Thx, I will send a message to FFG

I will post what they say for the star order token.

The problem is not just that the Star order token was cut from the wrong side but that the original orders have a plain red boarder around the token and the Star order token does not. It would take changing the graphics to match the original tokens as well as being cut from the back side.

This token should always be placed FACE UP. I will update thid in the FAQ.

It should...what? You mean, it is played OPENLY?

That's too bad :( ((.

It was really nice leadership card, I know that this order is also very usefull now but it was so much better before :P

I think this changes its perceived value much more than it changes its actual value.

Look at it this way.

  • When you place a normal order token face-down, your opponent knows that it could be any order type.
  • When you place a star order token face-up, your opponent know that it could also be any order type. The minute difference is that your opponent knows A) that your star order is not on a different planet, and B) that you can make the order decision on the fly.

During playtests, we tried it both ways and it did not make much of a difference. Due to the printing problem, I am going to suggest simply using it face up.

It isn't a good solution -.-

And, what i can do when i've to create galaxy ? The planet tokena have the same problem, yhen i can know the planet of Brood War

Thanks

p.s. where can i find the news faq ?

Its as you say, because of the cutting issue, its apparent when this order is played, so people know where it is whether its face up or face down. And in both cases, as you say, your opponent knows that it could be any order type, and that the type of order can be made on the fly.

I guess I'm just not seeing any difference in either of the cases where its played face up or face down. So its not like the ruling to play it face up actually changes anything. Not that I have a problem with it. I just didn't see there being any change, thats all.
