Guides and Vaults: Player's and GM's Guides shipping. Creature G&V, still rockin' the boat.

A question to those who have the Players Vault (? Think it'd be in there) - are there new versions of the errata'd cards (Rapid Shot, Double Strike, etc)?

Was just wondering when I can start to pester them for replacements for my incorrect versions... Again.

It's in the Guide at least, but Double Strike still has an error, the red side has 0 recharge when it needs 2 (as in errata, the text is updated though). Let's hope the Vault one is correct ...

That is terrible. Do they not proof-read anymore? Making an error on an error, there really is no excuse...

That is actually quite crappy... I would have sworn they'd not make that mistake. Kinda eliminates most of the reason to get the books (for me anyway), in order to get an error free rulebook.

Wonder if they still have "Light Crossbow" as well...?

XBox (6/3, 2 Handed, Reload), XBox Pistol (4/3, Reload) & Repeater XBox (4/3, 2 Handed, Reload)

What about the XBox 360?

I believe Spivo was referring to the bit in character generation, where wealth is described and there is the mention of a light crossbow. Which of course has no actual rules and is corrected in the errata.

Yep! Would be fun, in a tragic way, if they hadn't corrected that either...

According to the Upcoming page, they're listed as enroute to stores. Should be available by the end of the week here in the US.

i'Ve seen player guide and vault, errata is in, for example Bright order has his modification.

Looks like, some of us will have to wait a bit more for their orders.

Just got a message from local developer (in Europe), that due to weather issues (well, I have half a meter of snow outside the window) some of the orders will be delayed to the very end of this year, or beginning of the next...

(there was supposed to be a small delivery for the people that ordered early, but I was told, it was delayed as well)

Lucky all, who got it already.

**** weather, no XmEss present for me llorando.gif

Look on the bright side, with that much snow Santa won't need to rely on flying reindeers to deliver presents, which I assume means less CO2 usage?

That's not a good news. Outside my window there also a lot of snow. But I heared rumors that in Europe only a few lucky people will see the Guides & Vaults before Christmas. I did not get a messege from my FLGS so maybe I will get my package but who knows.

PS. I would like to ask You Sunatet - where do You buy Your games?

Don't be too upset.

We US customers (you know, where FFG is located) are still waiting for it to hit the shelves here. Must be a solidarity with our Euro brothers thing. ;)

The PHB book is about 300 pages. I haven't read it. Looking at the table of contents, it's the Player booklet (+Wizards & Priests basic rules); 137 pages, still 10 pages about the Empire. The rest are sections for Careers, Party sheets, Talents (including Faiths and Orders), Basic Actions, Blessings, Melee, Range, Spells, Support, each ordered alphabetically. I like the Career presentation in the book, not so much the Action's, but it's enough to make characters as a player. Once you got used to the cards (i'm used to order by type of action and separating the Creer Trait ones for the lot), harder to look in the book.
The new A4 format character sheet should be visible on the support page soon. It's about the same with a different presentation.

Thanks Cwell for the insights!

Out of pure curiosity (i will never-ever buy such guides, lol): can u articulate more about the supposed "componentless" rules presented in the guides? is something like "just remember/writedown ur action's results lines" or there is more?

from this thread

There is no component-less version of the game. Just a couple of pages with tips on how to deal with less. I'm even surprised they did not suggest using normal dice to track recharges (d6/d10), Wounds (d12/d20), etc.

The sheet has spaces to write the number of Fatigue/Stress, Wounds/Corruption/Fortune (lacking for Power/Favor but it's less frequently needed and easily fixed). They suggest using your own bits (pennies or whatever) to track recharges, but i'd rather use standard dice as said above.

The GM Guide has d100 tables for all Wounds/Insanities/Miscasts/Corruptions/Diseases, etc.

Thanks for the infos, Cwell!

well seems strange to me that they have not come up whit something better or completely different from the components play-style (i dont know, something more "totally narrative play" whit just theirs dice for example!). Between the much needed actions cards and the "roll on table" criticals, now the old boxed set seems THE ONLY convenient way to get into this game. I will definetely recommend anyone interested in buying this game to start whit the big box: way more bangs for your bucks and faster randomizing method for criticals and the likes!

I'm convinced that a couple /good/ character sheets could solve 99% of the complaints. The Core character sheet is fine, but about as well-thought out as the GM's screen.

jh

No component-less version ? Ohhh crap....

As France will likely not have the Core set, only the Guides+Vaults, this game really looks too expensive to me.
The dice alone made me consider buying Core much more cost effective than buying Guides+Vaults+dice.

I found the idea of action cards and symbol dice really cool, but it looks like I'll have to pass on WFRP3 because of poor marketing decisions llorando.gif.
120$ of Guides, plus like 36$ for a poor assortment dice is just too expensive to start playing. And if you have to find a way around the components, no way....

You can get all published boxes in France (Amazon.fr, Jeux Descartes, autres google check), but no traduction. You can also order from England but pay a little more for the delivery, they have the earlier availability (I got my Guides + Creatures Vault from Games Lore, they did good)

The only thing you really need to play is the dice, the rest you can keep track on paper, with our own tokens and crap (like standard dice as i suggested). If you want component play, then go with the Core Set and Expansion Boxes

Yes, I can buy it in english, but that could be a problem for some of my friends....

The owner of my local shop has a box. Might borrow it and see if every one is fine with material in english.

Thanks for the info you've given

Creature Vault and Guide are now Shipping! All is right in the universe.

Yes THE WITCH'S SONG is on the boat so at the end of january 2011 we could see it. That's a good news, can't wait for Hedge magic and this adventure set outside of all cities. To the wild we go! gran_risa.gif

Interestingly, the Creatures Guide and Vault have ads out at rpg.net saying they are available. Maybe that ad buy was a 'bit' premature or poorly scheduled. I think they'll show up right after the Christmas shipping rush.
