Martell squire:)

By Ulrik_Decado, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Hello,

Im complete beginner to GoT, we played two games with Core Set, Now I have second Core set, Greyjoy and Martell expansion and full First chapter pack set (W5K, AE, SB etc.)

Im trying to build some decent beginner Martell deck with it...what I shouldnt miss? My main idea is M and I combat, usually using tricks "after losing" and getting some renown power in I challenges. Well, because we play not so often, I want to come with deck that works a little bit and because Im inexperienced in GoT, I can easily miss some card (especially location or event) that looks weak to me and has some divine uber power...ahem:)

Thanks for any feedback:)

I'm actually fond of War Scorpian and Field Spikes. Fun little challenge control cards. Not super awesome, not uber deadly, but two solid character control cards if all your building from is the Clash of Arms Cycle and the Princes of the Sun box.

Using only the expansions/chapter packs you listed here are some of the stronger martell cards:

Areo Hotah (PotS) - Really makes an opponent attack conservatively, giving you a greater chance to defend

Arianne Martell (PotS) - Extra claim is always nice

Darkstar (PotS) - Renown, Vengful and a free play if he gets discarded

Fury of the Sun (AE) - Great plot, and is an intrigue gambit so you can use To Be a Viper

He Calls it Thinking (PotS) - Cancels a response and buffs a character

Red Vengeance (PotS) - more punishment for them winning challenges against you.

Ser Arys Oakheart (PotS) - Renown and character kill

The Red Viper (PotS) - Tricon, Renown, immunities and possibly won' t kneel to attack, Great for coming back from behind

To Be a Viper (SB) - Stands your character and gives you the chance to make an opponents character useless

War Scorpion (BoRF) - Another card that makes your opponent scared of attacking you.

There are other good cards but IMO these are the highlights from those packs/expansions

Thanks for replies, I wasnt sure if Scorpion is good (looked like, but... :) .

I played at Stahleck castle with a Martell decklist similar to the one Henrique Cunha was playing with in the kingsmoot. It's a turbo Red Viper and it works very well. I was using 3X Red Viper, 2X Power of Blood, 2X Bodyguards and 1X Benjen Stark. The idea was getting Red Viper in play as fast as I could, protect him very well and make all the 3 attacks with him. It's a very strong and very fast deck. I don't remember the decklist very well but if you try looking for it on the web you will probably find it. However, with the new chapter packs that are coming, perhaps you'd like to try a different type of Martell deck.

Try to search for some Martell decklists to find out what type of deck you'd prefer to play. The best advice I think I can give you is, no matter what decklist you will decide to play with, at least I would always include Red Viper, Arianne Martell and the Orphan. Maester of Lemonwood can also be very useful.

If you want to play Martell, the next pack you should get is Battle of Blackwater Bay for the 3x Venomous Blade.
