OK this became a longer post than I intended hope you don't mind the wall of text and sorry for asking something that has probably allready been answered a hundred times over (tried searching without much luck.
So I'm playing an Astropath in a game with my friends and took the Mind Probe power, now I already looked at the errata and I am still a bit confused, so I hope someone here can help me out.
I discussed these 3 options with my GM:
1. Mind Probe only requires 1 focus power test: At each round you break the subject a bit more and gain new information.
(personally I found this to be too over powered, almost nothing can withstand a opposed willpower test where the psyker gets +5 to the roll for each effective psy rating. Also how do break the connection other than physically moving the psyker out of the powers range to limit the amount of information he can get? The way I read the errata though, this should be the right option).
2. Mind Probe requires 1 focus power test to activate, each round you make a new "focus power" test to maintain the power and dig futher into the mind of your subject. These subsequent tests do not incur psychic phenomena.
(This seems more balanced, but again it will be very hard to keep information from the psyker).
3. Mind Probe requires 1 focus power test to activate giving you acces to the basic information as per the power description. Each round after the first you make an opposed willpower test to gain more information.
(This is currently the one we are using, it might be a bit underpowered but we would rather upgrade a power than nerf it).
PS. We are both rather new to the system and I only had the option to use the power a few times so far. So if you have any "official" answer a link would be nice. (need to print it and show it to my GM)
Thanks in advance
