Future of the (English translation of the) Game

By KidChainsaw, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Does anyone know what direction FFG/Anima Studios is going to take the game? There's already several supplements in Spanish that we haven't seen translated and there is a second edition of the game in the works -- if not out already. Has there been any news on the supplements being translated or the second edition corebook?

Or does the support end with the GM screen/toolkit and the setting book?

FFG seem to be running at roughly one book a year released at Gencon. As such, I would epxect to see the next Anima book in August 2011.

As for the "second edition", its not a second edition. Its another revision called Core Exxet to the existing game that is compatible with what we have to date. The question is whether the Martial sourcebook or Core Exxet will be next. You guess is as good as mine but I think odds are on the Martial book as any translation will need to have been already underway.

Other than that FFG have not said anything about the future of the line and won't do so in these forums.

I'm not sure that I follow. A new "revision" that isn't a replacement for the core rules? Please explain.

Core Exxet is designed to be used with all the existing Anima supplements. It tidies up a few rules but in a way that doesn't really change the underlying mechanics or concepts at work.

For example, the combat table has been replaced by a combat formula that pretty much underlies that table and uses all the same variables to achieve pretty much the same result. All that has really changed is the presentation and playability. The same goes for spells which packages Zeon adds into 4 levels.

Sure, there have been some minor rule changes but a vast majority of the rule set (I suspect it is close 99%) will remain unchanged except perhaps for an improved expression of the rule for added clarity.

I guess this could be semantics but IMO a new edition has to involve changes to the underlying system so as to require new support and thereby invalidating existing books.
