During our game against Cthugha tonight, we had in play the Mythos card "4th of July Parade" which effectively closes the Merchant District streets so investigators may not move through them. This trapped one of our players in the Unnamable. During his forced-encounter at that space (since he couldn't move out of the location due to the parade), he was forced to move to the streets. How would you rule this? Stay in the location? Move to the streets? Get lost in time and space? (j/k)

Our ruling was that he stayed in the location until the parade passed, then moved to the streets. Didn't really affect much, aside from 1 precious movement point from Cthuga's sweltering heat ability. I'm just curious how others would rule this clash.

It's a timing issue. I think he should stay at the location.

I concur. He would try to move to the streets from his encounter and find himself unable to do so, thus he would stay at the Unnamable. He would not be forced to move out when the parade ended since there's nothing about these sorts of encounter to suggest the requirement would stick around past the Arkham Encounters phase in which it appeared. Although I imagine the player would be more than happy to start moving again voluntarily as soon as he was able.

I'm pretty sure the ruling is that he would be forced onto the streets, in the route of the upcoming parade, and trampled by the Miskatonic University Marching Band before being run down by the giant fish float sponsored by neighboring Innsmouth. Treat as being devoured.
