Three strikes... Help me with a pre-game plan for session 4.

By any change could your player be attempting to base a character off The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? Try throwing a mystery adventure at the group with some opportunities to use intimidate. If that doesn't work I'd suggest killing the character and seeing if her next one is any better.

We played session 4 tonight. One of the new players joined us, but the other has flaked out and may not be able to join us at all. The game went quite well. The extra player helped to change up the interactions at the table, and I was able to keep all of the players engaged while those I wasn't directly talking to had more opportunities to interact with one another (appropriately and in ways relevant to both the story and the characters!). My "problem player" was treated to two plot threads that hinged on her character - one an immediate concern and one more long-term and nebulous. She loved it and ate it up. Even better, she seemed much more inclined to letting the others have their time too and didn't act to derail any of the scenes (including the one where an Imperial Magistrate was arbitrating a dispute between the PC RT and Hadarak Fel). Tonight's game has really helped to reassure me that this game and group can be salvaged. Thanks again for all of the input.

Glad to hear you've found your way to an amicable solution! I'm a bit surprised by this outcome given everything else you told us about the problem player, but as long as everyone's happy, that's what counts.

I was more than a little surprised too. I think she may have taken the last week to reflect on what everyone was saying and the simple fact that I wasn't willing to continue running the game if it meant more of the same. Regardless, I'm excited enough about the game that I've spent the last several hours preparing for our session next week. Those silly little Yu'vath and their doomsday weapons...

Sounds like the problem player is settling into the groove of the game at last, glad to hear you had an enjoyable (for all) session. Fingers crossed that it continues.
