chaotic techpriest

By Blasterdude3, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

greetings,

my group and I are currently playing a (we all voted on this unanimously) game on the chaos side of things and so far things are awesome.

I have a fairly trivial fluff question (wasn't sure weather this belonged here or in the fan fiction section). would it be possible for a tech-preist to attempt to communicate with the machine spirit, while through some folly of sorts, accidentally contacted slaanesh? this has been my story so far but i wanted to see if i had my facts straight (mostly for cosmetic reasons).

Anything is possible with the dark powers. It could be a perverted sex-machine the Techpriest is talking to, could be a blood thirsty Khorn-bot, or corrupting calculatron of ole Tzeenchie. etc. Demons can be bound to pretty much anything.

You.. Cant accidentally "contract Slaneesh", since Slaneesh is a dark god itself. However if you mean tainted, yes you can be tainted by attempting to interact with a machine spirit if the spirit itself is tainted. These don't tend to hide that fact, but they can. Machine spirits and machines can be corrupted - its part of the reticine of the Mechanicus to innovate as a result - since if circuits or what not accidentally align to create a daemonic sigil or name, it can invoke the daemon itself into it.

And speaking of the dark mechanicus, it has before tainted spirits. They can again. But largely anyone can fall to chaos.

Taking a perfectly normal machine with a normal machine spirit, and then accidentaly contacting one of the Chaos Gods instead of the machine spirit... well that does sound a bit far fetched. If the machine is tainted however, then no problem. It might even be a conduit used by cultists to make dark pacts or something else like that.

Theoretically your Techpriest could become corrupt just like any other party member or perhaps he was repairing a failing Gellar field generator... but what if he had a Cogitator implant, and that cogitator was actually an Dark Age AI, which has become corrupt. (or depending on your RP preference the other way around)
