Talismonger

By Nihll, in Talisman

How does the card talismonger actually work with the number 2 and 3?

Can you ever go below your starting craft or strength value?

Does this spell remove all strength, except you can keep your strength from items values. Example. A +1 Strength sword, will let you keep 1 strength?

If you have no gear, does it put your strength to zero?

Had huge arguments over this spell, would like some closure.

Without checking the actual text, memory seems to indicate you lose all your cones for the said stat. So to Str/Craft value. You still count Followers or Objects boosts since those aren't actually added as cones.

"All but Strength and Craft values and points gained from Followers and Objects"

i believe it is a rule that u can never go below ur starting strength and craft anyway

Yes, I agree this rule as been a part of Talisman since 1st edition, but there is another rule stating that specific text on cards or character can override a general rule as is the case with talismonger.

This is new since 4er.

Maybe somebody can look up the actual text in the rule book.

Cheers,

Special Ability vs. Rules
In any instance where a special ability or effect is at a variance with the basic rules, the special ability or effect always overrides the rules.

Can vs. Cannot
In any instance where a card’s effect indicates that a character cannot perform an action or use an ability (such as casting a spell or using an Object), the character cannot do so. In other words, the forbidding effects of cards override other abilities and effects. For example, if a card indicates that no Weapons can be used when fighting a certain creature, the Warrior may not use any Weapons, despite his ability

Does the same principle apply with must and can't

I've forgotten the card name but I got a card telling me I must attack Characters I land on but I was playing the Chivalric Knight.

Would I now attack weaker Characters or not?

Geoff

i believe that the last card played would matter most so since the card forcing u to attack should take place over the knight whitch was played first
