Since many people love pulling from BFG for the starship info, I looked into the Dauntless a bit. Apparently, it mounts batteries to the sides and lances forward. This is easily covered by the RT rules. However, the Dauntless also mounts forward torpedoes (AFAICT, in addtion to the lances). Now, while we don't currently have rules for torpedoes, I assume that they at least require a mounting point. Since the Dauntless only has a single Prow mount, it shouldn't be able to mount both weapons, right?
Dauntless-class has both lances and torpedoes in one Prow mount?

In BFG, a Dauntless-class can mount either torpedoes or lances in the prow slot... not both at once.
Yeah, it is an or, not an and. Otherwise Dauntless would be some of the best ships in the game.
OK. That makes sense. I guess the Secutor-class is the best way to get both with the ships currently in print.
One word of caution: BFG and Rogue Trader have some significant rules differences. I tried converting BFG ships to RT, and had significant difficulty. The void shields and weapons mounts in particular have different rules. And there's the little detail that Frigates and Raiders are a lot more survivable in RT than they are in BFG.

yeah, in BFG terms, most raiders and frigates would run about 10-15 hp
I think they're quite similar (RT & BFG).
Light cruisers, in Battlefleet Gothic we also have the Endeavour Class Light Cruiser which has str2 prow batteries and strength 2 torpedoes (in addition to str.6 port/starboard broadsides).
Slower then a Dauntless though.
The Endeavour has two sister ships the Endurance (lance broadsides) and the Defiant (launch bays). Currently it looks like they will get a 6+ prow in the official rules. We are a still trying to get 6+ prow and 90* turns, not or.
Light Cruisers seem to be the biggest difference between RT and BFG that I've spotted. In BFG, they are cruisers that follow some of the same rules as escorts - 90 degree turns, only 1 void shield, but their prow weapons are forward firing only. In RT, they are exactly like larger cruisers but in general with a bit of extra speed and less endurance. I guess the change is because in RT frigates and raiders are more survivable as has been pointed out, so they fill the same role as the Dauntless did in BFG. So in RT they have just become another type of cruiser.
