I just wanted to say that i received this game 2 days ago ( waited almost a year for german translation ) and im totally blown away !!

i was very nervous if the cost was justified, especially since i really disliked Runebound. BUT this game is now my pearl, my preciousssssssssss :)

Thank you for the great game and please put out some nice Expansions :)

BTW: in my copy i had 7 razorwings and 9 hellhounds... will this be an issue someday ? if not i can live with it

Probably not. In my experience with the game, it is rare that all of a given neutral monster type end up on the board at once. Except for Giants and Dragons, which have so few to start with that they can all come up pretty easily. There are usually a fair number of spares lying around off board.

Although I suppose this might limit how many extra neutrals could be recruited at a city. That's a relatively minor issue, though. Maybe we're missing some great tactical value, but usually when we get anything from a city, we get quests or influence, not monsters.

If you really want to have as many as you should have, contact FFG's customer support. Even from overseas they're willingness to help is legendary.

As I've been looking to get it, glad you feel that way. It really seems like you get a LOT for your money, both in gameplay and sheer component value.

Well the components are certainly high quality, as always with FFG. There are definitely some who feel there wasn't enough stuff in the box, though. Truth be told it's about half empty in there, even with the spacer. As to why the box is so big, I suspect the main reason is because of the design of the tiles. The decision to go with TI3-sized hexes meant that at least one of the longer tiles wouldn't fit in any smaller box. That and the epic box size is associated with a certain style of play which I think they wanted this game to be considered as.

That said, it is a fantastic game. The number of bits might be underwhelming for an FFG game, but the mechanics and replay value are through the roof. Definitely one of FFG's more solid entries in the last year. It totally deserves the Epic Box status.

totally agree here

I got this game for christmas and after opening it, checking out the contents and reading the rules once I was blown away. I like Runebound and have 2 of the big box expansions for it, however, it may now gather dust as I will be playing Runewars a lot!!
