If I use the power of Duregan Thorgrimson a unit and this unit is sent to the discard pile, the unit deals damage to Duregan Thorgrimson?

Good question. I would say yes, since this card lacks the "if able" statement that would imply you could kill the enemy unit off before it did it's part.
Hello everyone,
I too would like a confirmation on the text of the new card of the Dwarfs, "Duregan Thorgrimson" which says:
Action: At the beginning of your turn, this unit deals damage equal to its power to a target unit. Then, the target unit deals damage equal to its power to this unit.
In my opinion, that "then" means that damages are not contemporary and therefore the target unit of Duregan assigns its damages only if it survives, right?
Yes. Duregan Thorgrimson
deals
damage to the target unit.
From FAQ:
"A unit has been dealt damage, if at least
one damage is applied to it..."
"If card uses the word "
then
" the preceding
effect must have resolved successfully before
before the effect following the term "
then
" can
be resolved"
In other words - if Duregan is man enough to slay
target unit with one heavy strike - he doesn't get any
response.

This. If it was simultaneous, the card would probably be worded more similarly to Lure Them Out.
Great card. Order is starting to see a lot more sniping.
Duregan + Greatbook of grudges = lots of hurt
My brother thinks this card is grossly overpowered for its price. 4 cost, 2 loyalty could almost be played turn 1, definitely turn 2. I was using his ability to nullify his battlefield and he got pissed. Any thoughts? I ended up winning the game.

It's a Dwarf card, what else is new? When will the HElves get even tenth of the love beards are getting ?
I am the brother mentioned by Method1080. He had this card out in turn 3 against my fairly speedy empire knight deck, and it was the first time we had seen the card in action. The obvious game-effect of this card against unit-heavy Empire (almost all 2 hit point units) or low-cost Destruction decks is that you have to build up enough resource draw to be able to lay down multiple units a turn just to keep one or two alive past the next Dwarf turn.
Essentially what happens is that this one card completely shuts down the opponent's ability to lay down units while the dwarves just keep on rolling. Throw one or two Master Rune of Dismay's and a few Keystone Forges into the mix (which he did) and forget about it there's no coming back from that level of oppression. He ended the very-long, drawn-out game with no damage on his capital.
And, for the record, I **** near won that game (by turning it into a game of "who will deck-out first").
His effect isn't zone-specific, so you can't move him out of whatever kingdom/quest zone he's chilling in. He has 5 hit points, and a few very cheap ways to acquire toughness and hammers so the longer he sits on the board, he can nullify more powerful units completely without fear of taking damage.
And how about the ticking-time-bomb combo of Thorgrimson/Book of Grudges? ouch....
So, yeah, I'd say this guy is priced a wee bit low.
Maybe he will get errata so that he takes the damage regardless of whether he kills it or not.

All I could see is "When will the HElves get love beards?"
Hi!
We've just received (on Polish forum) information about that card from Lukas Litzsinger from FFG.
He wrote, that in general Duregan's effect should act the same way as "Lure Them Out" (unfortunately) and that will be updated in next FAQ.
/Regards, Colan
Thanks, I'll add it to the rules summary.
I think the wording of the "then" statement in the faq clears it up
If he deals damage (applies one or more damage" THEN he takes damage equal to the target cards power regardless if it was killed
as an attacker when i assign my damage first and am able to kill some defending units, I am not able to remove the damage the removed units have inflicted. I think this is the same principal behind the wording of dwarfs card
