Question about cannons

By gran_orco, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

One of us has an ability of SOB that lets him to redirect one attack that targets one space. So, could he use this ability to redirect one shot of a dragon cannon? That cannon must fire to one space , although it places a breath template on it. This attack is not like that of a giant or a hell hound. Is it possible? We thougt that it should be valid. He redirects the cannon attack to another figure. The cannon cannot fire to another monster in the ship (it is out of line of sight), and, according to the ability, it is treated like a failed attack: a failed attack with an overheating cannon explodes the cannon as a result.

No. Dragonfire cannons are not attacks that target only 1 space.

Trickster
Exhaust this skill before an enemy figure makes an attack against you that only targets 1 space . That attack is redirected against another figure (friendly or enemy) of your choice. If the redirected attack is unable to hit its new target (due to range, etc.) then it automatically misses. This skill only refreshes when you (and only you) activate a glyph.

Dragonfire Cannons
Dragonfire cannons fire special runestones that are enchanted to burst open and cover a wide area in magical fire. Dragonfire cannons are fired as normal, but if a successful attack is rolled on the cannon’s normal attack dice, the breath template is placed with its rear end in the targeted space and aimed away from the ship that fired it, as shown below. All spaces covered by the breath template are targeted by the attack.
