How does the miniatures game of Mutant Chronicles compare with the coveted board game of the same name? It looks like they at least superficially share the same game world. Is that true?
Board Game
Well, I like minature games more then board games i ngeneral so it would not be surprising to know that I prefer this game.
It does take place in the Mutant Chronicles world, and Mitch Hunter and the rest are here (or about to be).
If you are leary of it because it is a minatures game, don't be. The army building is simple, but allows for dynamic army lists (more so once all the figs are out) and the reference cards are easy to read. Also the unique dice system makes it much easy to play and allows for quick games or long drawn out games dependign on what time restraints you have.
Well I like the board game but the minatures give you a broader game world
to play.I have a ton of metal from MC/WarZone so I really don't see the need to
invest in FFG game. But if your interested in gaming the MC Universe the minature game
is the way to go.

Are we talking about a new boardgame, or is this referring to the older games that game out about 10 years ago?

From the word "coveted" from the initial post, I would say that he's referring to Siege of the Citadel from designer Richard Borg and a slew of publishers that came out in 1993. There are a couple of cousins to Siege: Fury of the Clansmen and Blood Berets, but Siege is the grandaddy of these old board games in the Mutant Chronicles 'verse.
My cousins and I have multiple copies of the Seige and still play them today. We really never got into any of the games that followed it mostly because none of them really compared to the speed and play style we got used to from Seige. The new MC mini's game is awful darned good though. We can set up and play a match in less than an hour (sometimes less than a half hour). Its crazy exensive comparitively, but quite fun.
