Anyone else actually trying to improve Dwarfs?

By f7eleven, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

I know it's the hands-down best deck but a handful of recent dwarf units have been finding their way into my build and have tested out really well.

The first thing I tried was swapping out Longbeards for Serpent Slayers. The theory was he could go into a side zone if needed, while Longbeards cannot, and they also make mid to late game Tombs a bit more handy (allowing you to get to three devs in the battlefield in a single turn). They will swing for one less power once or twice, but being able to swing for 5+ more than balances that out. Anyway, I haven't even thought of switching them back they've been so good.

Grombrindal's Elite also really stood out for me in a lackluster battlepack. A 2/3 for free seemed too good not to try out. I had been wanting more units in the deck anyway, mostly to get more Ranger activations. This guy has been really impressive. If you draw him early he's an obvious development, which makes him sound kinda bad, but it is really hard to choose developments in this deck, and I was often having to develop Spites, Reclaims, SYG's and Serpent Slayers because every other card in hand was getting played that turn. Then as soon as any zone is burning on either players' board you love seeing this guy. And by the time you're reclaiming his 2 power is nice.

Now I'm trying out a single copy of Duregan Thorgrimson. I can't see how he's not better than a single copy of Lure Them Out. He can target a unit in any zone, could possibly be used 2 or 3 times. and he's another unit to make Ranger and Reclaim even better.

Other than these new units, I've dropped Spite to 2x and bumped Reclaim to 3x.

All that said, I can't wait until the other factions can piece together anything nearly as powerful and synergistic.

I'm not too sure about the rest but the new hero Duregan is just too crazy to not include 3 off in the deck. The ability to control the board with this guy alone is just ridiculous.. sorpresa.gif

Empire almost got a decent synergy boost with Higher Ground. Unfortunately, the word Battlefield on Higher Ground gets in the way. The Empire quest this time around is all right, too. All the Dwarfs need now is a tactic that wins the game immediately and gives instant wins in the future based on how many developments the player has out.

rofl... I come back to the boards to see if anything has gotten better and I see that quote. Awesome. See you guys in a couple months.
