My campaign: Radical inquisitors, feuding dynasties and time lost pre-heresy ships and crew, oh my!

This has been my first rogue trader campaign, so it's been a learning experience for me. I was pretty heavily invested in Dark Heresy, so i'm very familiar with the basic rules and setting, so learning the RT rules wasn't TOO difficult...but adjusting to the scale and scope of RT was interesting. there's so much to do!

that said, the rogue trader player wanted to take the Inquisition elite advance at character creation. His idea was to be part of an inquisition retinue but given a warrant of trade because his boss didn't particularly want him around anymore...long story short, what we worked out was that the rogue trader is basically an optimist/idealist and his inquisitor boss is an Istavaanian radical (Ordo Hereticus). essentially he's got his warrant of trade because his inquisitor boss figures this is the ultimate test of his philosophy - either the RT crew will adapt and survive (and this be stronger for it) or they'll die and not be his problem any more.

At any rate, the captain has started by surveying a small stellar cluster (five star systems) that's off most of the charts in the region. along the way, they mis-jumped into a star system that contained a sealed inquisition watch station, found that the stellar cluster is being used as a vast social laboratory by a group of radical inquisitors (Ordo Malleus Xanthites) and discovered the wreckage of a Vengence class grand cruiser that's been lost since pre-heresy days...along with its surviving crew AND a time lost still loyal member of the Luna Wolves.

it's been fun stuff, and I think the best part has been watching the players come up with solutions to problems all on their own. they drive the plot so much more than in dark heresy. which of course has good and bad aspects, since some of their plans (and the scale of such ideas) can put a bit more work on me...but it's actually been a lot of fun to plan and plot.

I decided to run the 'fallen from grace' adventure as part of my next big endeavor. As much as I liked the adventure, I had to modify it somewhat to fit my campaign. I've added in a competing Rogue Trader hired by Calligos Winterscale specifically to muck with their plans (ok, mostly to muck with Chordia Aspice but still) and orders from their secretive inquisitor patron to track down a specific heretic on Grace and make sure they're dead AND orders to recruit as many survivors from the grace colony as possible and transport them to Footfall for induction into an inquisition strike force. There's been some other modifications on my part as well, but they're not worth mentioning...overall, I like the adventure but I felt it needed fleshing out to really sing.
