Does anyone happen to know what Marine chapters are active in or around the Koronus Expanse and what legion they decended from?
We need a bit of background fluff for a campaign I'm in.
Thanks

The only reference I have seen in Rogue Trader is a couple Strike Crusiers of an unknown chapter showing up at Footfall. You might try looking in Deathwatch. There is a chapter mentioned in the Deathwatch rules that is supposedly in the area.
You could also make up your own tho. There are a couple hundred unnamed chapters still, so you could make up whatever fluff you wanted.
Or you could just use an established chapter. You cant really ever go too far wrong by using Ultramarines (or one of their sucessors). All sorts of fluff about the chapter is available, and you can always use some sort of warp anomaly to explain why they are in the expanse. At least that is what I was going to do.....
The Storm Wardens are the marine chapter in the Calixis sector .
Thanks. I knew it was Storm something, but couldnt remember the wardens
Thanks guys.
Any mention of what legion the Storm Wardens are decended from?

FROBIDDEN LORE~ You have been flagged for inquisitorial profiling...
It is truly forbidden lore. Their entire history is sealed and the chapter master and the whole 1st Company have been hidden somewhere in stasis for thousands of years (not sure about the date it happened)
Rumor mills points at an heretic founding chapter but it is totally speculative and would mean they have the same history as the Blood Raven which is the main reason to forgo the heretic founding legion/chapter...
Others say it could be a unstable geneseed
others say it could be from a chapter that would not allow succeeding (maybe dark angels or fallen angels, etc)
I thought they were Ultramarines successor, and that the whole first company thing was later...
Looks like I am going to have to break down and buy Deathwatch sooner than later.
Certainly you could have the Death Watch in the Expanse or out in the Halo Stars. Often Watch Fortresses are hidden and unknown by even the natives.
According to the current Codex: Space Marines there are some three or four chapter home worlds in more or less direct proximity to the Calixis sector: the Night Watch (on Silence, chapter colours here ), the Blood Swords (on Jaggafall), and the Star Dragons (on Draconis, somewhat more to the galactical west). A bit further far off there are the Iron Knights from Brycantia (north-east of the Halo Stars) and (at least at the moment) the Dark Angels ' Rock somewherer near the Finial sector (east of Calixis).
Black Templars also have a fortress or two and a pair of dreadnaughts somewhere in the Calixis sector. Can't remember where i read that but i think it was in some Dark Heresy stuff.

They have fortresses, yes, but they've been abandoned other than maintenance staff since the end of the Crusade.
The Dreadnoughts guarding a shrine are, if memory serves correctly, Iron Hands Dreadnoughts, aren't they? (Not Black Templars.)
The Storm Wardens seem to be the most likely Chapter keeping watch because they were holding vigil over the Halo stars. In fact, I believe that they get their name from the "Storm" which is the warp storm around the Maw. They have also had a history of fighting xenos unique to the Calixis region such as the sluggagh. (pardon my spelling, **** xenos names!)
According to Deathwatch, the Storm Wardens are heavily committed to the wars of the Jericho reach and have deployed 7 companies there. That would suggest 3 companies in reserve. Since the Expanse does have a rising Waaaagh as well as an Eldar Craftworld, an interesting idea would be to have the Storm wardens launch a crusade into the Koronus expanse and claim it for the Imperium (making a Koronus Sector). The other Chapters mentioned could also join in, as well as some nomadic chapters such as the Black Templars. This would give the Players a chance to play regular space marines rather than the Deathwatch variety and beat up a whole new collection of Xenos (Orks, Eldar, Stryx, Kroot, and those Rol Gaul types from Edge of the Abyss). The book Into the Storm suggests that there are a group of people who believe that Saint Drusis did not end his crusade and that the Imperium should keep going and claim more territory, these would make for regiments of Imperial Guard toops as support as well as religious Pilgrims who no doubt would bring some Sisters of Battle with them.

So basically play DW in the expense? The whole death watch setting is similar to what you propose.

Word Bearers are mentionned in Edge of the Abyss.
The Astartes Praeses ( javascript:void(0);/*1290912748932*/ ) are fairly near as well, though they probably have bigger things to deal with the the Calixis Sector.
White Consuls and Black Templars were involved in the Angevin Crusade to conquer Calixis Sector. Stands to reason that they would be at the very least active in the Segmentum, plus Black Templars are involved in the Jericho Reach Crusade. There's also a Deathwatch Marine in Purge the Unclean, but he refuses to disclose the name of his chapter (the only symbol is a hammer and something on his shoulder plate). That certainly indicates that there must be some Deathwatch presence in Calixis, and by extension in Koronus. I think it would be totally appropriate to either set a Deathwatch game in Koronus or have marines show up as NPCs or rumours or something.

He doesn't refuse to disclose the name, it is the 'Hammers of Retribution'. It is there where they are based that he refuses to disclose.
Ah thanks. It's been a while since I cracked that book open.
