Few simple questions from a new player.

By TheSkullivan, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I'm currently only playing the original descent. Road to Legend is on the way, but not here yet. I tried to find these questions on FAQs and other posts but didn't have luck finding the answers to all of them (a lot did get answered, though).

I read somewhere that the overlord gets a threat token per 2 surges rolled. Does it have to be the same roll or if monster A rolls a surge, and Monster B rolls a surge, does that mean one threat token if it was on the same turn?

When the overlord spawns creatures they have to be out of LoS of the heroes. Does this include figures blocking LoS? Say a hero and a skeleton are in the row. Can the overlord spawn something directly behind the skeleton? (Hero--->Skeleton----> Spawn out of LoS. )

Skills like Precision (+3 range for Magic/Ranged attack) are those usable only once per round or is it every attack? I find it difficult to find which skills are passive and which are active.

At the end of a map, do players have time to sell their equipment and spend their money on skills and traits before the next dungeon or does it all go away when the last baddy is dead? Also do skills/traits carry over to the next dungeon anyway?

Is there a limit to the amount of skills that can be had by a character at a time?

1. With every roll. You don't get to keep the surges you didn't use for the next roll.

2. No. Monsters are not taken into account for LoS when spawning.

3. Skills can be used every time unless ontherwise stated.

4. Heroes lose their money and items as well as their newly bought skills or triat. You start a new dungeon with the normal amount of money and health and fatigue.

5. I don't believe a limit to the amount of skills is stated. However since skills you have bought are discarded at the end of the dungeon there is no way you can have more than 4 maybe five skills in one dungeon.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch.

Very common question. Treat each quest in JitD / AoD / WoD as a standalone game. You play the quest and thats it - game over. Pack everything away. When you play another quest, you start again from scratch like a brand new game.

Unless..... you decide to play with the "simple campaign" rules in the rulebook, but even then, you dont get to keep anything.
