I know this sounds like an innane question but bear with me.

I was watching the Video on how to play and it mentions an "activities" phase after every pahse of the game. I re-read the rulebook and I don't see that..

So what am I missing as that is when I thought you played events...

The video does mention that each player has the opportunity to use player actions during each phase, usually after the main thing you do in the phases (Draw, Dominance, Standing, Taxation, etc.) takes place. So maybe you are confusing the way the video talks about the "Player Action Windows" with some sort of "activities phase," but the ability to take actions is so basic, the rule book doesn't really go into "now you can trigger actions" in its description of each phase.

Look at the FAQ for the game, found here. That has a full description of the timing structure of the game, including flow charts. That should answer any basic timing questions you may have,
