Demon Lord ending

By Persiatic, in Talisman

Hi all

The Sacred Pool expansion haven't reached the shops in Sweden yet so I can't buy it but I have seen this ending and don't understand it at all. I mean why is it only 12 craft?? It's not like it's easier for strenght char's to reach the crown infact it's easier for craft. This ending kills any strenght char reaching the crown. They could have just written something like "If you have more strenght than craft you loose otherwise you win".

Is it something I have missed about it? What do rest of you think?

Regards
Pers

It's the only ending that doesn't benefit the Str characters. Nice to give the weaker Craft-based characters an ending that gives them a chance at the finale. Since Str-based characters in general require less stat gains to make it to the CoC, they have the edge. Still, I've seen a Craft 10 Troll without making any real effort to boost stat (just got the right Objects and rolls), so it's not like they are out of the running. Heck, given their high Str and boosted Craft, they are still more powerful than low Str, high Craft characters (barring those that can psychic combat, unless the Str character has even more Craft gran_risa.gif ).

I like the Demon lord ending, it give some interesting strategi to the game. I can see those with the highest craft will be hunted by the other players demonio.gif

I gues we will see a similar ending with str. - maybe a Dragon King gui%C3%B1o.gif

cheers

In my experience it's always been easier to gain craft over strenght, and the balance of it have been that a regular fight with another character is in battle (meaning strenght) which means that the non-psycic combat craft char's have to play defensivly. Also the craft char's are spell cycling char's so getting the brainwave spell is more likely to happen to them than for example a strenght char drawing the spell that doubles strenght value.

I like it - I find strength characters have to battle and steal those craft increasing items more, rather than just bolster their strength. I reckon a Strength only version wouldn;t be as fun, but would make a nice addition. 12 Craft is nice to keep the game shorter.

If you want a longer game, just house rule and up the total.

Yes, if you play that you draw the ending before the game starts then you can plan for that specific ending, but we always play that the first person reaching the crown draws the ending. So this ending means that if you are a strenght char you are pretty much auto dead.

Yes, you are right there!

We don't play draw when you get there for that reason

I like this ending too.

Craft type characters have a chance to win now cool.gif

We always draw our characters first, and after that, we draw one of the alternate ending cards.

It's too bad if you draw the Demon Lord after you choose a strength type character demonio.gif
