Armor as cover for infantry?

By Hawaiiirish, in Tide of Iron

Hopefully, someone can help me with this question: how do you use armor to cover infantry? Several posts I've read discuss doing this; however for the life of me, the idea escapes me. If units don't block LOS and armor doesn't provide protection to the infantry, how is it possible for armor to "cover" infantry?

Specifically, looking at a discussion about "Kidney Ridge" scenario in DotF: someone mentioned this as a tactic to move inf up. Can someone explain how?

thanks,

Jon

I believe what they're talking about in that scenario discussion is that you would use the armor to suppress or destroy anything that it sees allowing your infantry to move up unmolested in the sense of "cover me! I'm going in" :)

Armor doesn't transfer from vehicles to squads, it only applies to the vehicle in question.

I sort of figured; but, I just thought I might have missed something.

thanks for the answer, Happy New Year!

That would be pretty **** cool if the Designers could make armor-as-cover rules. Following behind the tanks for some shelter was always a common occurance, and still is today.
