Hi, while playing my high-elves/lizardmen indirect damage deck against my friends dwarves deck we were having doubts about if indirect damage could be cancelled by toughness. We ruled it was possible, but after the game looking into the faq I just want to know for sure.
From the faq:
- Indirect Damage is non-combat damage that is dealt to a target player.
- Non Combat Damage is always applied as soon as it is assigned before any other actions can be taken.
Now toughness is not an action I guess, but it does say "as soon as it is assigned", for me suggesting that there is no timing window for tougness to kick in. However, the faq also describes:
- a player cannot assign more indirect damage to a unit than what it would take to destroy the unit (this includes Toughness and other damage cancellation effects).
Well this confuses me a bit, since it now describes speciffically the word toughness, suggesting toughness does cancel indirect damage. Maybe someone could clarify something for me of how the faq should be read (english is not my first language).
PS now I am reading the "dealt damage" part as well in the faq, realizing Outpost of Tiranoc is not that great anymore (well against dwarves it sucks, because all the cards that cause indirect damage are individually handled, never get stacked, and get cancelled before Outpost can double its damage....)
