Dark Eldar, do they use wraithbone

By Santiago, in Rogue Trader

Hi,

Do the dark eldar use wraithbone like the normal eldar or something different, same thing actually goes for the larger Eldar/Dark Eldar verhicles, are they also made of Wraithbone or just metal?

grtZ,

S.

To the best of my knowledge they dont make any use of the psy-plastics like wraithbone in any of the background materials I've read in terms of codex, BFG or anything else I can think of off the top of my head. I'd suspect that's because you need a bonesinger to make it and they're definately a psyker... and we all know what happens to psykers when they're caught by DE!

from france

in the last codex it is say that they use superior thecnologies that of the imperium and that they are lacking spycker the like of craftword such as farseer for example.

"tortured wraithbone"

According to the new codex they do not use wraithbone, they build their weapons from other materials. The dark eldar have pretty much forfeited their psychic powers to create a conduit that allows them to share their suffering and the suffering they inflict with others and to send to Slaanesh to sate her and fend off her eating of their souls.

Though I could see a shadowseer maybe using some, or a haemonculi experimenting with some captured wraithbone.

You mean they no longer use the terrorfex and horrorfex?

Those things fired grenades of, well, tortured wraithbone to cause maximum scary to their enemies...

Equivalent items are there (Phantasm Grenade Launchers on squad leaders, Torment Grenade Launchers on vehicles), but they're hallucinogenic gas grenades now, rather than being wraithbone.

What would be the stats for a Splinter Cannon, I would guess:

Splinter Cannon (Range 120, -/-/8, 1d10+5 R, Pen 4, Clip 200, Rld 2 Full, Auto Stabilised, Toxic, Near Unique)

I think people are forgetting an option for Dark Eldar having wraithbone to (ab)use in grenades: stealing it from dead craftworld Eldar.

In the Dark Heresy adventure supplement Purge the Unclean, you can find rules for Dark Eldar and DE splinter weapons. However, those date back before the recent DE 40k codex, so thy aren't toxic yet. One could add that rule, nonetheless. Otherwise go to Dark Reign , somebody has done up-to-date rules for splinter weapons.
