Dark Eldar, Edge of the Abyss, and GMing Dark Eldar NPCs

finally got mine. very excited about reading it. is it worth?

I've always maintained that craftworld Eldar employ a 'cosplay based martial arts system' which is basically what aspect warriors are to them.

Heck, even guardian armor seems to be used similarly with the eldar being fueled by the rage of khaine (or faery dust) in battle, but then able to return to his original path once the costume comes off. This basically makes aspect warriors the Eldar version of Otaku....with chainsaw swords.

The corsairs on the other hand seem to revel in their piratical actions, and is likely why every picture and quote of them makes me think of Rocky Horror Picture show's frankenfurter...with chainsaw swords. More 'normal' outcasts seem to be a blend of craftworld and exodite desires linked to an odd desire to 'see the world'. But when/if they return to their craftworld they seem to leave a lot of that behind, just like they would with another aspect. One example is Yriel who goes from admiral, to pirate, to autarch throughout his life. Though I really lack much in the way of evidence to back that up easily.

As for DE types, they don't have the safety net of the paths to protect them from themselves, and they require the pain and suffering of the universe to keep themselves pretty. So they'd be a lot like the normal corsairs with much flamboyance, fabulous apperances, and space elf style swashbuckling. However, they'll be entirely more cruel, disdainful, and probably treat it all as some kind of fun game/buffet.

There's an eldar corsair suit in Into the Storm that's basically Dark Eldar warrior armor. Thing is covered in so many sharp things the wearer counts as always armed with a mono knife. That way, they can hurt anyone, anytime, anywhere with a big hug.

But I think everyone's covered most of that already. Just my rambling two cents.

As for the Crow Spirits...I think they're either exiles from a destroyed craftworld and or exodite planet or they actually know exactly what the craftworld Eldar are looking to stop. They might also know that the big bad thing has an interest in certain species, and move to eliminate them.

For example, say the 'big bad thing' was a c'tan and his necron minions which will harvest souls, and more stars, once they awaken in the expanse. They might be trieing to thin out the herd to keep some unknown population threshold from being reached. That's a bit cliche though....and only one of many possibilities considering where the expanse is located.

Though one has to remember, to an eldar human are like really fun lap dogs that think they're tough. They bark, and snarl and pretend to be tough and might actually hurt if you handle them wrong. But really, a good swift boot to the head is all that's needed to keep them in line. When that annoying mean dog gets into your trash, or chews up your antique rug...you give it more boot.

Very well made, though I would upgrade the equipment and use the stats used in Into the Storm

I used stats from PtU and gave them Toxic (as per weapon descriptions in 5th ed codex), and figured that would be enough. To tell the truth I didn't look at Eldar weapons from Into the Storm too closely, but now maybe I will and perhaps update the file.

You should maybe also consider updating the stats. In the tabletop both Dire Avengers and Dark Eldar warriors have WS and BF 4. The Dire Avengers in Creatures Anathema have WS 55 and BS 52, and I haven't seen an Eldar so far with an Agility of less than 50.gui%C3%B1o.gif

I've updated the file with weapons from Into the Storm (though I kept my homebrew Hail of Splinters weapon quality on the weapons), as well as the Agility stats (thanks for the tip Mjoellnir :) ). I feel the BS stats are fine as is though, since most of the time they'd be firing weapons on semi-auto or full-auto. Any comments about the new items? :)
