Initiative and Order of Actions During Resets.

By FATMOUSE, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

If two players tie for initiative, the player with the lower victory power count chooses who goes first, not the player furthest away from his or her victory condition, correct? (i.e. Player A has 6 power and needs 15 to win. Player B has 7 power and needs 17 to win.)

During a character reset, such as Wildfire Assault, (or any action that affects multiple cards from multiple players) what is the proper way to go about choosing characters, triggering responses/saves, etc. For Wildfire Assault does each player take turn choosing a character? Does one player choose all his/her characters, then another player chooses? If there are saves on multiple sides after Valar Morghulis is revealed, do players take turns making each individual save, or does one player make all his/her saves and then the other player goes? Does the order/structure of actions taken differ for an event like Westeros Bleeds versus Valar Morghulis being revealed during the plot phase. Most players just do everything at once, but I'm certain there is proper structure that should be followed. I suspect that each player takes turn for triggering effects (i.e. responses, saves) and the First Player decides the order in which players choose their characters for effects such as Wildfire Assault (That is, Player A chooses his/her three, then B, then C, etc)

1. When an effect like Wildfire requires multiple players to choose targets, the person who controls the effect chooses all of their required targets first, then clockwise around the table. So if I reveal Wildfire, I will choose my 3, they you'll choose your 3 - even if you are the First Player.

2. Saves, like any other Responses, are played one at a time, going from player to player. In a Player Action window, the person to the left of the person controlling the effect that opened the window gets first Response (so you get to Respond first to my Westeros Bleeds). In framework action windows, the First Player gets the first Response (so the First Player gets to Respond first to my Valar, even if I'm the First Player). Saves then proceed in a "you do one, then I do one" fashion like any other series of Responses.

(Note: that order of who gets to Respond first is the only difference between player actions and things happening during framework actions)

3. Ultimately, when a single effect hits multiple characters, it is considered to resolve for all at the same time. So even though I choose my 3 for Widlfire, then you choose yours, all of our other unchosen characters die at exactly the same time.

I just want to clarify, "In framework action windows, the First Player gets the first Response (so the First Player gets to Respond first to my Valar, even if I'm the First Player)." I'm assuming you meant to say something along the lines of, "In framework action windows, the First Player gets the first Response (so the First Player gets to Respond first to my Valar, even if I'm the card's controller)." Otherwise everything else is clear, and I appreciate the help!

Yes. That is how it should have been stated. You type "First Player" so many times in an answer like that.... preocupado.gif

Haha, I understand. Thanks a million, ktom!
