Hello and Welcome Back, Loyal A Game of Thrones Fans!
A Song of Silence should be in your eager hands now (and if not, call your local retailer and tell them to stock up!) so now we can move on to our next set of spoilers, this time for the penultimate pack in the Brotherhood Without Banners cycle, Of Snakes and Sand.
Each pack in this cycle is themed to one of the Houses - A Song of Silence, for example, featured more cards for House Greyjoy - and Of Snakes and Sand is no different, themed around House Martell, particularly the Sand Snakes.
Last week, we took a look at two House Martell cards which we think will get a lot of play, and this week we repeat that theme in honor of this Chapter Pack's focus on House Martell. Last time we introduced the Poisoned Knife. This week we preview a location that will give that attachment and others like it a dangerous boost: Alchemist's Shop. House Martell leads the field in Weapon attachments and Alchemist's Shop makes them all deadlier, literally. There isn't much more to say about it, only that it makes Martell Weapons that much more appealing and versatile. Even the Bronze Shield - essentially a cancel event in Attachment form* - edges up, allowing you to use your "sacrifice fodder" characters as Deadly attackers.
Since Of Snakes and Sand is themed around the Sand Snakes, it behooves us to show at least one. The Sand Snakes of this pack feature Trait-synergy around icons and keywords. Case in point: Tyene Sand. While there are, as yet, few Sand Snakes in the card pool, the Sand Snake trait won't be hard to get, once Of Snakes and Sand releases. Sand Snake is a nice sub-theme for House Martell in that it doesn't conflict with its House's major goals or strengths. Unlike Clansman or Asshai, which may push a player outside of a House's established strategies, Sand Snake just adds some more versatile characters to your already deadly House Martell arsenal.
So that's it for this week's card spoiler. We hope we've given you plenty to discuss here in the comments and in the A Game of Thrones forums. Until next time! For those of you who will be at the Days of Ice and Fire event and participating in the tournaments: good luck!
BONUS: Johannes "Johnny" Goslar was nice enough to upload footage from the Tourney at Stahleck event last month. For those of you who weren't able to make it to Germany for the event, check out some of the highlights by following
