Mini battle-reports from Norway.

By Nighthawk6, in Mutant Chronicles

Someone wanted to see a battle-report from me earlier about my 8/8/8 Algeroth vs. Brotherhood fight. Since I hadn't all the cards etc written down I couldn't go into proper detail.. In short, my Algeroth army lost big time. The most heroic moment of the match would be my brothers Keeper of the Art using Divine Levitation, flying in on the 5point VP and he kept on to that spot even when Alakhai came rushing in to save the day.

Here's a little more detailed report on a different battle. I'll try compiling all my mini battle-reports in this thread as well.

RESULT ( after the last round ):

Bauhaus: 28 VP
Brotherhood: 38 VP

I really got slaughtered on this one! Only getting four kills on Brotherhood (and the sacred warrior even got resurrected!), while they killed 7 of my Bauhaus. In the end the three different ranked Mortificators stood on line in the middle, with one VP marker each (meaning they had the two 3point and one 5point). Though the one 3point were tied with my Bear Trooper. Brutal. The only reason I got so many VPs is mainly because I got the Relic by the 1point by my deployment zone (therefore giving me 4 VPs every round. There were too many blunders on my part, forgetting to use the command cards just right, not taking advantage of combined fire etc. It just played out wrong from the start. I've lost to the Brotherhood now on 2 out of 2 tries (with Algeroth and now Bauhaus).

More mini battle-reports to follow.

Update: The battle lasted for 1 hour and 30 mins, withouth too much hustling to get it done quickly.

Very nice! Sounds like that was tons of fun! Thanks for posting, dude!

My fiance loves using Brotherhood; that's when she tends to kick the crap out of me! Hee, Hee. That was when I started shouting, "They're broken, dammit! They're broken!" Seriously, though, Brotherhood are really good; Roselyn is going to save those for last in our campaign, so I think I don't think I am really going to stand a chance.

Good luck, bud! Again, thanks for posting; real good read!

Yup, thanks for the battle report, man ! It was an interesting read ! In fact, it seems the Brotherhood is really powerful (we got the same kind of report on the french forumes : a brotherhood force crushing an Algeroth army). The Brotherhood has a good number of figs with armor, healing capabilities (both from the Art cards and from the Fury Elite Bishop), and can even resurrect dead troopers. They also have a lot of useful command cards, got one of the best snipers of the game (though most snipers are good)... It's too early to say that they're overpowered, but when facing a Brotherhood army, caution and good planning are required !

Thanks guys! gui%C3%B1o.gif They aren't unbeatable, but I just need to learn to keep my distance a bit.. Looking forward to the January releases now!

Thanks for the report, Nighthawk! It must be a fierce battle. And yes, you HAVE to keep some hexes away from almost any brotherhood mini. happy.gif

Nice, thanks for the report! Something I noticed, though -- are you adding up VPs from zone captures at the end of every round? Because you're only supposed to tally those at the end of the game... that may give you different results. I could be reading your report wrong, though.

You've got to be kidding me. I've always added the VPs after every round.. I re-read the universal head rulesheet, and it's not super clear, since it says " Victory points are also gained for every victory zone you are holding at the end of the round" . Nothing specifically about them only being "fully added" at the end of the game..

But you're only supposed to add the points to your other VPs gained by killing enemy units to see if you've crossed i.e. 30VPs? And if you do, then the game is over and you'll add victory zone points together for real..?

Read the official rulebook as well. It states.

"The combined value of all enemy units you have destroyed, victory points you have earned from command cards, and points from victory zones you are holding when victory points are counted, is used to reach the victory threshold."

There are some stuff in the rules that are a bit "murky". I think both ways sounds fun, with the way I've played it maybe being a bit too aggressive. Am I the only one having misunderstood the official rules for VPs?

Well, we're always playing counting the victory zones you are holding at the last round, not the V.Z. you were holding rounds ago. If you don't have a mini in the relic, you can't count the zone in future rounds counting, of course. The sentence you have transcribe (thanks!) are supposed to be for every round, not in a total. The dead minis counts all the rounds, but the V.Z. only can count in the round you're holding them.

Anyway, as you've said Nighthawk, both ways seems fun (your way it's a little less strategic and a little more direct, in my opinion, but it's the best of this kind of games, everyone plays with her own style) happy.gif

Oh yeah, this certainly isn't a game breaking thing, and I definitely agree that the rules are a bit nebulous in this area. We all had to get clarification at the GenCon tourney. We were told that VPs only count as long as you hold a zone, so if you move off of the zone (or lose the unit holding it), then those VPs are not part of your total until you can hold it again.

That ended up being a major factor in the championship game... my opponent used his Golem of Ice to lay down icy terrain between one of my units and the 5-point VZ that he was holding, which prevented me from contesting that zone. Since that was the end of a round, it put his total high enough to win by VPs and end the game. Definitely an epic battle.

@MarceAndrada : Aha. Not that I think you've misunderstood me, but just to have something clear. When I say round, I don't mean turns. With turns being the actions/stuff done that make up a full round, two at a time. And on the end of the full round we count the VPs from the victory zones. While the dead (as you say) is counted continously everytime someone dies (except when someone comes back resurrected other than the gold/silver necromutant).

I'll try out your variant as well though.

The game I played lasted for maybe 1 hour 30 mins btw, which I think is a bit longer than expected, but we didn't hustle either. As my brother said when we were finished (him not being as huge a fan of the MC world as me, but taking more of a sceptical role towards the game, until he tried it). "It's just like a game of chess, with guns." Which I find a great comment.

@Nullstate : Thanks for the clarification! If it's official, then I'll def. start playing it like that.

Nighthawk, now all is more clear, thanks a lot. happy.gif

This quote is epic! This should be included in every box of the game. gran_risa.gif
