Chivalric Knight and Warlock Quests

By lonely_writer, in Talisman Rules Questions

In the last game of the evening the player with the Chivalric Knight drew the warlock quest to slay one dragon. Another player drew a miser dragon and the Chivalric Knight went to his aid and claimed after the battle that his warlock quest was complete because he aided in the killing of the dragon.

So the question is this - does aiding a character in battle count towards the completion of a warlock quest (Kill one monster, Kill one dragon etc)?

I think that you can complete the quest if you aid a character with killing a dragon.

No. The Chivalric Knight cannot complete a Warlock Quest by aiding another character in battle.

Good to know, he has to perform a heroic deed once in a while.

In game terms the aiding Chivalric Knight is just a bonus to the active Character's Strength. He's not actively killing the Dragon because he doesn't directly fight it. That's quite obvious because he doesn't get any penalties if the attack is lost (he doesn't lose a life), so he doesn't get any achievements from the combat, except the Quest Reward that's granted as a reward by his ability.

As for rulings, the Rulebook is not of much help. I can only say that to kill a creature, you need to compare your character's attack score with the creature's attack score. The Chivalric Knight is not killing the Dragon because in this attack he's not the opposing character. He's giving a bonus to the opposing character's attack score, thus helping someone else to kill the Dragon.
