Odd things in the World Championship decks

By toastcrumbs, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

HI,

I've been taking a look at the top 8 World Championship decks www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_nrep.asp and I'm a bit confused by 4 of them. Maybe I'm missing some obvious piece of information, but if looks to me as if the following decks contain Empire cards, which can't be bought into play (unless as a Development) due to there being no available loyalty/racial symbol for Empire:

  • #3, Garett Brett, Dwarf with High Elf and Empire
  • #5, Matthew Ley, Dwarf with Empire
  • #6, Gio Crawford (Deck built by Tony DuLac), Dwarf with Empire

SImilarly, the following deck contains a Dwarf card, which can't be bought into play (again, unless as a development) due to there being no Dwarven loyalty/racial symbol:

  • #8, Chris Gauer, Empire with Dwarf

Am I missing something?

Thanks all,
Mark

I cannot believe that I did not know this piece of information about WH:I up until now!

I've just been alerted (thank Philos ) to the fact that it's possible to pay resources in order to make up any shortfall (or complete absense) of matching loyalty/race symbols.

And, I just found it on page 11 of the rulebook (paragraph 2 + boxed example).

I guess it just never came up as an issue to me, since I've been playing with solo-race decks. Still, I feel pretty daft now.

I guess that this thread is as dead as a Dodo now. Sorry to have bothered y'all.

Doh! Of course, this is still a significant part of the rules, even for solo-race decks, where there might be a shortfall in the loyalty/race symbols available to put-into-play a given card.
