Intresting Variations between Masses of Humanity

By Captain Harlock, in Rogue Trader

Comparing the supplements now in the 40k rpg ranges shows some intresting variations between an Imperial Citizen in the Calyxsis sector and Colonist in The Koronus Expanse and a civilian in Deathwatch

Colonist Profile

Civilian Profile

Is this deliberate? Is it to reflect the way humanity operates in different areas of the Imperium..? It leads to some intresting variations for baseline human characters..

The men and Women in the Koronus expanse are hardy folk who can handle themselves better in a fight and have more willpower, which just shows you that if you get dropped an a xeno infefested dirtball in the imperium you gotta be willing to stick it out for the long term). They are however less perceptive than a citizens which probably is why they were stupid enough to volunteer to colonise a new world

Citizens of the Calyxisis sector are a remarkably perceptive bunch (perhaps because of thousands of badly disguised inquisitorial acolytes hanging about the place) but are also remarkably stupid, which explains why every other chaos cult is able to hoodwink the authorities.

As for the Civilians in deathwatch, while nowhere near as dumb as the Citizens they are even less perceptive than the colonists. And as for their fellowship well they cant produce many entertainers. Looks like being persuaded/chased/killed/enslaved y the tau the nids and chaos are taught them to keep their mouth shut watch the horizon closely.

Ideas?

Each stat line was likely written by a different author, each with their own idea about just what average human stats should entail.

I think it is intentional, but also different writes as stated above.

But it can make sense as you rationally detailed. Those living in the Calixis system are generally not constantly at war, being eaten by orks, chaos maruaders and those annoying Tau with their greater good pamphlets. (I mean come on, the Tau look just like hari krishnas)

But interesting none the less.

Of course these stats can be modified by placing a homeworld origin template on them.

Heh. I got a chuckle out of this post, I have to admit.

Good catch, and funny reasoning for the "variations". The line about the inquisitorial acolytes actually made me laugh in RL =).
