Some event card, like "He calls it thinking", will trasfer to a Boon Attachment after it was played.

Is Captain Groleo able to response after the opponent player played "He calls it thinking"?

Remember that in order to "play" an attachment, you have to pay its gold cost in marshaling in order to put it from your hand onto a character. With "He Calls It Thinking," you play an event, then put the card into play as an attachment.

Since the attachment is put into play rather than played, Groleo would not apply/could not be triggered.
