ToI 3D

By Klaus Fritsch, in Tide of Iron

I made large hex maps for Battles of Napoleon because I wanted to use 3D terrain for that game and give it more of a tabletop feeling.

I could not resist trying ToI on those maps and I love the results.

Here is a scene from Battle in the Bocage, the second scenario of the Normandy campaign.

The "bocage" looks a little to regular, but it was cheap, easy and quick to make. :-)

Here is a German mortar squad sitting close to the scenario's objective.

These are pictures from the last campaign scenario, Piercing the Siegfried Line.

Here you can see that one hill is not yet ready and a proxy is doing its job. happy.gif

The finished 3-hex hill with a Soviet SU 122 which must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in the wrong scenario...

Nice!

If the infanteri only had a few handgranades to toss to the other side...

Looks really nice. I especially like how much the buildings add to it.

Really great job thanks for the pics

Thanks.

I had always intended to add buildings to the original boards, but they work much better with the larger hexes.

Thank you. It is really fun and has the added effect of limiting me mostly to 3x4 boards. 4x4 is the maxiumum I can squeeze on the table if I extend it a little.
