About save and Cancel-save.

By Uncle Joker, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

1.Viserys Targaryen, Response: Save Viserys Targaryen from being killed or discarded from play, then return him to his owner's hand.

If Viserys is chosen to be dead, he saved himself by return himself to owner's hand, but it was be cancelled.

Now can I play event "Retreat" to get it back?

Can I use iron mine to save him?

2.Ser Davos Seaworth, Response: Save Ser Davos Seaworth from being killed, then pay 1 gold or return him to his owner's hand.

If Davos is chosen to be dead, he saved himself by paying 1 gold, but it was be cancelled.

Now can I pay another 1 gold to save him?

Can I return him to my hand to save him?

Or can I use iron mine to save him?

Yes, you can use another save response if first was not successful. Note that Retreat is not a save response - you can play it later in step 5.

There is one per trigger rule (FAQ page 7, 2.4) - so you can trigger his ability only once per kill.

Why is there a FAQ regarding Davos response, but not Viserys? Is there any subtle wording difference between the two that I can't see, or is this an oversight of sorts?

Viserys also can be trigger only once per trigger. Uncle Joker just asked this in his second question, that's all.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the clarification, the way the answer was organized led me to confusion, but you're right, he only asked about Davos. ;)

Thank you Rogue30 and Ktom.
