Use of Mortella?

By chrassos, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

hi everyone,

i have a ready Mortella in my Q-Zone. My opp. has High Elfs Disdain in his Discardpile and plays from his hand Asuryan´s Cleansing to counter my Unitcard.

can i corrupt Mortella to search High Elfs Disdain from his Discard to play it immediately to Counter Asuryans Cleansing?

is there a stackproblem?

Depends. Is he playing Asuryans cleansing in response to your mortella? Or to another unit? If it's to another unit, you can do as you said.

Like Sining said, there is no stack problem. Your unit goes on the stack. His disdain goes on the stack above it, then your mortella Action goes on above that. As part of the resolution of Mortella's effect, you play the card from the discard pile (presumably another copy of High Elfs Disdain, as the current copy is not yet in the discard). If Mortella's action said something like "until end of turn you my play tactics in your opponents discard pile" then it wouldn't work, as you would have a stack/timing problem that is often seen with people trying to use Inspiration or Hate to pay for a spell in reaction to something.

On a side note, the card you play with Mortella arguably can't be interrupted by other tactics or effects, since that would require your opponent to interrupt the resolution of your effect, which isn't allowed. I've submitted this as a rules question to James, but haven't gotten a response.

Thx guys,

its all clear now.
