The Expected first game questions

By Skie, in Battlestar Galactica

Hello all

Yesterday we had our first game (exciting!) and thanks to the very well written rules book and these forums we didn't have much problems with understanding the rules. Some things that we'd like to clarify though:

- Assuming you're Admiral, can you use your nukes from both weapons control and command locations? Using it from weapons control would seem better, since you can (?) target any location from there. Using nukes via remote vipers is also possible, right?

- at one point we drew the dreaded 33 crisis card ;) It says it stays in play until certain things happen - when it's in play does it 'refresh' the board with the given setup during each Crisis Step? When it's in play, do players draw other crisis cards (i'd assume yes, since it's the only way for the fleet to jump).

- when you reveal yourself as a Cylon, you receive a super crisis card. You can then discard it and take a new one in one of the cylon locations - but after you play a SCC, you don't get another one, right? i.e. one SCC to play per a cylon in game?

Thanks for helping!

Using nukes - the Admiral can use the nukes from any location. It is an action printed on the Admiral card, and thus always accessible. It is independent from the Weapons controll and Command locations.
Note that the correct results for launching a nuke are those printed in the rulebook, and not those on the Admiral card.

33 - The crisis has no effect when it "stays in play" except what is stated - if you jump, shuffle back it into the crisis pile. Cylon ships are added only once, and you continue drawing Crisis cards as usual. Do not read more into the cards than what is written on them.

Super Crisis - that one is correct. Each Cylon only gets one of those per game, although they can switch if they get one they don't like. When they use it, it's gone.

Hopping on that train - if I don't like my Super Crisis and exchange it - the old one is discarded and hence lost, correct? I mean, until I'm through with the pile and it gets shuffled?

Seems so to me, yes.

A few more:

- Can I use nukes to destroy raiders or heavy raiders? I know that usually it's an overkill but sometimes it might save Galatica's neck...

- About Loyality Deck: In our game we had Boomer and Gaius. Gaius gets two loyality cards in the beggining, Boomer gets two after 4 distance is travelled. If 3 people are playing that leaves 1 card to deal out - who gets it?

thanks again!

1- Nukes cannot be used on raiders or heavy raiders.

2- You include an extra "You are not a Cylon" card for each Gaius and Boomer in play. So in a three player game with both in play, the initial deck would consist of 1 "You are a Cylon" and 7 "You are not a Cylon" cards. Gaius would get 2 cards at the start, 1 at distance 4. Boomer would get 1 card at the start, 2 at distance 4. The third player would get 1 at the start and 1 at distance 4; which adds up to 8 cards total; the amount initially shuffled.

two games later I think this game is amazingly good and fun! Another question though, again about nukes. I was the Admiral, and I happened to be a Cylon as well. Others were suspecting me though, so I decided to reveal myself quickly to maximize damage. My question is: is it possible, being Admiral, to discard nukes? As an action?

No. You cannot take any action that is not specifically listed somwhere (board, cards or rulebook), and discarding nukes is not an option.

You can always "waste" them by launching them at basestars at the wrong time, but it requires a basestar target, and paint you as a toaster.
