Haarlock Warrant

By Feonor, in Rogue Trader

Ok, so a GM agreed to let me play a RT in Dark Heresy, but only if I would play a scion of the Haarlock line. So I used the Ship and Warrant path from Into the Storm to create what I thought would be the closest match. Here is what I came up with:

Age of Redemption

Fallen from Grace

Reward

Age of Plunder

Battlefleet

Famous

Which gave me 64 Ship Points and 16 Starting Profit Factor.

Does this seem like a reasonable build?

... based off the resources that Haarlock seems to possess even without being actively present, it should probably be higher to make it closer to the story, but for game balance seems ok.

Why age of redemption? I thought the Haarlock warrant was older.

Regardless, the warrant path rules don't make a lot of sense IMO. In the core rulebook PF+SP=90 (page 33). My advice is to just decide on a background, perhaps taking ideas from the warrant path writeups in ItS, and then dividing PF and SP so that the total adds up to 90. Or you could just disragard the PF/SP system altogether.

Well, if you want official... The Haarlock Warrant was issued to (then) Free-Captain Mordecai Haarlock by Sebastian Thor himself, which places it right at the end of the Age of Apostasy. FFG just published that little detail in one of their free downloads, the "Know no Fear" supplement for Deathwatch. Evidently, the Haarlock line originally hails from the Jericho Reach, and was a major player there, millennia ago. "Know no Fear" describes how Mordecai Haarlock earned his warrant, and its a free download, so you might want to grab a copy.

Cheers,
