A little known (or used I think) card from Mountains of Madness called Polar Fog might - if I understand it correctly - be used to great effect ....in a different way than it was probably "intended" to be used by the card developers.
In theory, Polar Fog is designed to be a Defensive card that you can play when your opponent sends a strong character into a Story he wants to succeed at....you play Polar Fog..and force them to redeploy the character to another story (one they don't really care about or want to contest that turn, most likely). This also makes it easier for you to win at the "big story" since now their "tough character" has been sent away (got lost in the "Fog").
( Polar Event )
Play during your opponent's turn.
Action
:
Choose a character committed to a story. Remove that character from that story. Then, that character's controller must commit it to a different story, if able.
---------
The only restriction is that you must play the card during your opponents turn. But this can actually be of great value, I think.
What I am imagining is a situation where you have a Ravager from the Deep on Defense....your opponent has 2 sets of characters, and only needs to score Success Tokens at ONE of the stories to win the game. He "knows" that you cannot block him with your Ravager at BOTH stories...so he should be able to secure the win by attacking both of them at the same time.
You commit your Ravager to the first story. As soon as Ravager is committed....all OTHER characters at the story are wounded...he wounds the guys he sent in...laughing as he puts them in his Discard pile, because he "knows" he's won now...and there's no way you can stop the other...whoa...!...wait....what... ???
You say ..."I have an Action I'd like to play now"....and put down Polar Fog ! (cue ominous music)
If I understand the card...there is absolutely no restriction on you playing it on your OWN Characters....so you play it...choosing the committed Ravager...then "remove him from the story"...but what's the next part ? ..."then that character's controller must commit it to a DIFFERENT story, if able" ..!
Oh...yeah ! So you can take your Ravager...and put him into a DIFFERENT story...in that same defensive round.....meaning....as soon as he is committed...you get to wound all the OTHER characters your opponent had at the second story !
What a defense ! Well played, Ravager.....well played !

So...whaddya all think...? Pretty good (at least in theory) concept ?
Also...what other nice cards give you some effect when committed to a story...that you could essentially double up on with Polar Fog ?
Ali Khafour comes to mind...(Card Draw when committed), but I'm sure there are more.
