Psychic blanks.

By Kerrik2, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

So... I kinda want to play one, but I can't find rules for them in the core rulebook...

Does anyone know what book, if any, that they have in depth rules about playing such a character? Or even better, if someone knows off the top of their head, that'd be awesome..

Thanks in advance.

The Inquisitor's Handbook and The Radical's Handbook both have rules for Untouchables, aka "Blanks".

Hrm. Can't find it at first glance in the IH, so perhaps I'm mistaken (though I'm fairly sure I've seen "Untouchable" rules in two separate sourcebooks... Disciples of the Dark Gods, perhaps?).

Regardless, you CAN find the rules on page 38 of the Radical's Handbook.

It is in DotDG

Thanks mate, I got the DotDG PDF and found the rules.

Can an Untouchable aquire Corruption points in any way and/or mutate i.e. after being exposed to raw chaos matter / being cruel and evil ?

Cruel and evil do not merit you corruption points, they are used exclusively for warp exposure - being cruel and evil would merit you insanity points. Well, really, depending on what you mean by cruel and evil... A lot of things that would be considered so are normal in the Imperium.

Whether or not they can be mutated is something up to GM fiat - they can ignore a lot of sources of corruption since they render artifacts inert to themselves.

Being an untouchable can also cause some suspection since psykers can not read your thoughts so easily, they will wonder if you are hiding some sinister purpose, or if you got your gifts from some dark pact. Pg 38 of radical's handbook has very good description on it. According to that an untouchable can not even enter a dark pact or gain sorcery, so you could reason that equates to some substantial defense against corruption.

Psykers will know instantly that you are an Untouchable, they won't have to attempt to read your mind. The disruptive effect is unsettling in normal humans and downright unpleasant to a psyker.

As per rules, Untouchables are immune to any Corruption points from Warp Shock, Sorcery, Demonic Interraction, or really just about any Warp event. This makes them functionally immune to Corruption. A case could, perhaps, be contrived in which they would gain some... but for all intents and purposes they are not going to be impacted by it.
