Bendy miniatures

By rashktah, in Runewars

Hi!

Sorry for my third new thread in a row, but I want to paint my Runewars miniatures and sadly some of the parts are bent way too much.

Especially the swords of the undead knights are bent like prezels and I wouldn't want to keep them that way.

Is there some (easy) way to 're-bend' the miniatures' parts so they'll stay the straightened way?

Thanks for any tips!!! :)

putting them into hot water will often correct the bend.

Wait, what, hot water will 'auto-correct' the miniatures? O.o

Or do I still have to bend the given parts the way I want them be be?

He's referring to a classic miniatures technique. Soak the mini in hot water (not boiling hot, but reasonably hot) for a little while, then bend it into the position you want, then soak it in ice cold water while it's in position. Done right, it should lock the plastic into the new shape.

I haven't had much luck with the technique myself, but I may not have been using hot enough water. I also probably didn't do a good enough job of holding the mini in the position I wanted.

You can google the hot water-cold water technique and you'll probably find lots of web sites that go into more detail about it.

Thanks, I will try to re-bend my minis that way.

On another note, are the swords of the elven warriors supposed to be THAT thiny???

I ... am ... psyched!!!

I heated water, I plunged some badly bent miniatures into it and... I could SEE the plastic reshape itself!!!

Thanks for the great tip, I only had to re-adjust some small parts, most other parts reshaped itself nearly completely the way they were produced back in the factory. It was a great sight.

I'm happy. Thanks. :)

Yeah, they're more like Elven Daggers.
