I need info about the imperial navy and their procedures. Help please

By dosan, in Dark Heresy

Any books that you know that tells info about the navy, how do they work , their routines and their ways? I ask because in my game, the players are in a warship, i believe it is a cruiser with 3 oher escorts ships, that are carrying many imperial guards, especially recruits that are trained on board, so they are delivered to a forgotten planet to try to make a garrison there and secure it, for the time being at least.

I already am reading all the info i got in the Lexicanum wiki, and it is usefull, but any other books , novels, and the like , will help me, because my players are

about to have a fight on board :) , and i want to know really how the navy and imperial guard work together, and especially under attack. Thanks!

rules of transport are simple; no passengers are to carry firearms at any time, except in emergencies, such as boarding actions. the navy handle all ship board conflicts swiftly and brutally, with a zero tolerance attitude toward all passengers, especially guard units in transit. the only time the guard would be expected to wade in to aid the navys' armsmen(ship security), is if enemy forces had boarded; which would result in a general alarm, and a call for all able bodied personnel to aid in repelling the invaders. hope that's clear enough, just woken up

Read Relentless.

There is also a expanded section in Innocence Proves Nothing where the acolytes are onboard two different ships, neither a warship, but you can get some of the themes and styles of space naval life there.

As well as Redemption Corps and many of the Gaunts Ghosts novels (or at least Ghostmaker).

And lastly, try Rogue Star and Star of Damocles.

These are all 40K novels.

And if you can find them: Execution Hour and Shadowpoint; in my humble opinion the best Imperial Navy novels in the BL!

Execution Hour and Shadowpoint are available as a single book through Black Library's Print-on-Demand service. It's a little more expensive than a normal novel, but I imagine it's cheaper than trying to get hold of two very good out-of-print novels.

thank you very much! I will search this info! I love the warhammer universe, just sometimes it is a little difficult to find the proper info! Thanks again

I do not see the Imperian Navy carring troops abourd a warship like a crusier as they will not have the dedicated space needed espacaliy if thay are raw troops they would be transported by a deticated troopship or a requestioned freighteras that will have the correct bearthing spaces and messing spaces. Troops would have very specific areas and duties that they would have to do if the ship is boarded probably gaurding specific areas to free up the navy troops to deal with the boarding.

Navy Ships are probably crewed by Multi Genrational Crews with ony occasional draft of the lower ranks to replace casulties. I could see oficers kids being treated like squires sent ot other ships to get trained before returning to their ship when they have becoume officers.

If you can find it, GW used to publish a game called "Battlefleet Gothic". You'll find all the information for there and more. Generally I consider Execution Hour to be the primary source of all information as opposed to Relentless. Primarily since Relentless, if I remember correctly, is set in the Segmentum Pacificus, while Execution Hour is set in the Segmentum Occularis. Each Segmentum has entirely different fleets, procedures, commanders, docks, etc. (See example of Nightbringer with the Praetorian class cruiser). If you can pick it up, Eye of Terror is a good one as well.

You can download the rulebook for BFG plus a load of other stuff, all for free, from the Specialist Games section on the GW website, just look for Battlefleet Gothic Resources.
