6 Players?

By DeadlyWhispers2, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hey everyone. First post here...I think.

What I wanted to know is, is this game compatible with 6 players? I know the box says 2-4, which seems strange. Has anyone tried it with 6 players (5+GM). We're currently playing 4th Ed but are nearing the end of a quest and might try this as a change of pace. I own the core set and have been trying to get my group to try it out for a while now. Would another player need to purchase a second core set, or could we all play with one?

So far I've only played it with a small group of 4 (3+GM), and as a 2 player game with my wife.

I've searched the forums but haven't found anything. Any help and tips would be great. Thanks.

Perhaps they're a bit old now but there have been a few threads about this before (don't worry, I couldn't be bothered to find them either).

The long and the short of it is that it should be no problem. You'll have to share dice and basic action cards between the group but that's about it. It may make things easier to scan/photocopy just the basic action cards or make a master sheet of those basic actions as every character has access to them. I'd suggest picking up the Adventurer's Toolkit as it will give you another set of basic actions and a bunch of new options for other actions and careers.

We play with 5 players. You really need extra dice, otherwise it's like playing D&D with only one set of dice ;)

I recommend you give this to each of your players as a reference print-out: www.gitzmansgallery.com/WFRP3_Resources/Docs/WFRP3/WFRP3%20Rules%20Summary%20-%20Universal%20Head%201.pdf

This sheet has all the basic actions on it: www.gitzmansgallery.com/WFRP3_Resources/Docs/WFRP3/WFRP3%20Basic%20Action%20Card.PNG

My group is 5 as well. I don't think an extra person would change much, but I second the advice here.

Ditto. We started out as a 5-6 player group and that was before the extra dice pack. It's much more manageable now, but if you find that your group is in it for the long haul have a couple players invest in the pack and make a community dice pool. Even when we divvy them up we find there's always that one roll where the players on THAT side of the table need a couple extra whatever dice.

Thanks for the answers guys. It seems like it should scale well, and with the dice packs and players toolkit available now it'll be cheaper for the other players to get into the game. I think the core set comes with enough basic action cards for 5 players, so we might need the adventurers toolkit and a couple sets of dice.

The core set has enough basic action cards for 3 players, the adventurers kit has an addionnal set. So enough for 4 players.

Get your scanner and printer out! (although having said that, players shouldn't really need to refer to the basic ones much. I still have one player who can't remember what dodge, parry & block do for him - maybe you have one player like that as well)

Honestly, if i had it to do over again, I'd have just bought an extra boxed set. It's a better deal than dice packs (considering the extra rulebooks, cards, etc.)

Thanks for all the replies everyone. My current group is part D&D vets, and the other part is fairly new to the Roleplaying genre. We're currently in the middle of a D&D adventure, and I"m getting bored with it so I'm going to try bring this system into the mix.

If they've been playing 4e, the cards will not be a surprise (and the dice are really what my 4e players really latched onto).

I think by the math, it was suggested that WFRP combat characters were the statistical equivalent of a 4th level 3e D&D character.

I just posted to say...let me know how things go.

And that you will probably need or want to buy a second set if the game is a hit in your group. Having just one set of all the cards is not good. My group of 7 have 4 core sets, and 4 toolkits. and yet I wish sometimes for the 5th set.

Good gaming and make a helluva introduction to warhammer fantasy roleplay. Blast them awaygran_risa.gif
