'In play' Rituals in Mists of Zanaga

By Insensitive Clod, in Runebound

I picked up the new expansion on Das Spiel, last thursday and we've played one game (currently typing while playing the second) and we've run into a number of issues and nastiness so far. See 'Set the Deceiver' topic for the issue with this primal god and it's effects.

Another issue is the wording in the rules about 'Rituals in Play'.

The two points:

On some rituals (the rituals with Active Effects) it says 'While this ritual is in play:'.

On page 8; in the highlight-box in the bottom right, it reads: "Any card on the ritual track is considered to be IN PLAY"

Simply put, reading the rules literally, whenever ANY ritual-card with an 'active-effect' comes onto the Ritual Track, it's effects trigger directly without actually having to wait until the right ritual-tokens appear on it.

Our group's assuming this is an unwanted effect and that the ritual-cards are actually just 'in play' at the moment the ritual-token cost has been paid for them.

There are two different types of Ritual Cards, those that trigger when they are complete and those that trigger (and stay in play) from the moment they enter the Ritual Track until they moment they leave. On the bright side, some of these are beneficial to the heroes so its actually a wise plan to keep them on the Ritual Track for as long as possible.

Therefore, the cards that say "in play" mean just that as there ritual effects are active as long as they are on the track. The cards that don't say "in play" only are triggered once when their individual tracks are filled up.
