Got it!

By Zozimusque Romanus, in Talisman

Picked up my copy of the Sacred Pool yesterday, and spent an hour or so poring over the new stuff. I like it! I'm still going to have to figure out a way to make the alignment-based cards show up more frequently than not, but I think it'll be fun playing with the new expansion. I particularly like the new miniatures - is it my imagination, or is the plastic they used a little different - stiffer, maybe; less flexible? I like that, too. Very much looking forward to painting the Magus, in particular...though his scale is off, compared to the other characters. He's as tall sitting down as the others are on top of a horse! Favourite card so far: the Kraven, being scared off by a hedgehog. :) This looks like one of the better expansions, IMO.

I hope you can share some card info with us soon babeo.gif

It sounds so fun. I can't wait to play!

For some reason, my husband and I thought the expansion was being released mid-November. Today is his birthday, and this morning I went to our local Talisman-stuff seller to get a gift certificate so that my husband could buy it in November, when we thought (and he still thinks) it was going to be released. I can't wait until he opens his present tonight and finds the actual expansion pack instead of just the gift certificate he's expecting. What awesome timing.

I like to know what the events cards can do to the character. are there any events that can do bad things to the character?

I am also interested in the 2 other endings, Demon Lord, and Sacred Pool

You'll be pleased to know that the set as whole has some very nasty cards amongst the Events, Strangers and Followers. Discordant Dirge brings all the discarded Enemies back to the top of the Adventure Deck. Augur does the same for Events. And beware the Deathstalker!

:)

A few more tasters:

Necropolis and Cathedral are identical to Graveyard and Chapel. Mendicant allows you to spend Gold to add to your prayer rolls. Glittering Gorge is a 'Magic Stream' for Gold. Reliquary is a 'Magic Stream' for Quest Rewards. Pantheon is a 'Magic Stream' for Alignment change cards.

I am indeed happy about this.

I hope i hear more about the events. happy.gif we get 14 event cards. that;s very good gran_risa.gif

Some more info on the Events:

Hate Monger is a Craft-based Werewolf variant. Glorious Hymn and Equinox are the good and neutral equivalents of Evil Darkness. Avatar of Justice is the neutral equivalent of Angel and Devil. Portent relates to quests. Fortune's Fool is an anti-fate card.

Thanks Archdruid! Could You put some light on Followers or Spells?

I'd also like to know more about the Dark Knight (Talismanisland said that the one that leaked on the pdf wasn't the final one) and the other 2 endings (sacred pool and demon lord)

What can the Hate monger do as a werewolf then, because it;s a event..

Glorious hymn and equinox sounds good too. so if you are not good or neutral, then characters must lose 1 turn?

With Avatar of justice, is there some ( life loss) if you are of a other alignment, ( such as the devil that steals a life from you if you are good etc)

Fortune's fool steals your fate?

So is the Werewolf Adventure card as well. I think he means it's the same, except attacks you with Craft X, instead of Str 3 like the WW. You still roll for Followers to see which one of them turns.

We never really bother with the alternate endings, so it's kind of vague in my memory just now: Demon Lord is a craft-based baddie of the "boss" type, with multiple lives. Sacred Pool is a "revealed" AltEnd, meaning you have it in play the whole time. Essentially it has to do with collecting Quests and Quest Rewards in order to meet the win criteria, if I recall correctly. I'm really enjoying the Quest Rewards, by the way: lots of little adventures along the way. We played our first game last night: I made it all the way to the Pit Fiends with the Magus and got killed. Didn't bulk up in Strength enough. sonrojado.gif Then played the Dread Knight for a while, and chased the Chivalrous Knight all the way to the Inner Region before he killed me with the Command Spell. "Chivalrous", my fanny!

How plays the Chilvaric Knight? I think i don;t like it if he helps other people in battle to gain quest rewards..( I think it;s not a big deal to do that..)

Dread Knight looks very interesting to play..

Sacred Pool sounds fun.. ( something like the warlock quest ending..

Some info on Followers:

Dark Theurgist and Theurgist of Light are alignment-specific Followers which grant gifts when you defeat Enemies or Characters. Defender of Justice is a Strength-based relative of Wise Man. Guardian Angel turns defeats into stand-offs. Kraven allows an extra card draw but it will run away from strong Enemies. Oathsworn Guide and Oathsworn Oracle are quest-matters cards which affect movement and card draw respectively. Mendicant, as previously mentioned, allows gold to be spent to improve your prayer rolls. The two nasties (which you must take) are False Prophet, who prevents you from using fate, and Deathstalker, which kills you if you lose battle or psychic combat!

Thank you very much for the infos.

For those (like me^^) who won't get to Sacred Pool for quiet some Time (because the Translation takes waaayyy too long -.-) , it would be nice to get a look at the Characters Cards of the Cleric and the Dread Knight - so if anyone could be so kind...

Could you please share the abilities of enemies? So far we know what dark fey could do, are there any more creatures with nasty abilities? Are both 10 craft/might monsters dangerous (any abilities)?

Off the top of my head:

Pit Fiend is vanilla (no special abilities); all other Enemies have special abilities. Firemane and Fel Steed can be exchanged for a Riding Horse or Warhorse respectively instead of being taken as a trophy. Swamp Siren makes you encounter the space again if you lose. The C10 and S10 Enemies are alignment-specific; you can evade them if you are the right alignment; you may not evade them if your alignment is opposed. Vindicator's Strength is 3, 6 or 9, depending on whether you are evil, neutral or good (he's a counterpart to one the Dungeon's Cultists).

happy.gif

More on Enemies:

Shadowsoul and Wretched do not allow you to use fate to re-roll your attack. The Wrathborn Enemies get attack bonuses to boost poor rolls.
