So we have moved to France for a year and for my son's birthday I bought him Runebound off of amazon.fr

I just received it and its in french (fine) but 1st edition. Was there never a 2nd edition french made?

I have read the reviews that 2nd edition is much better than 1st...

Is there a way to upgrade to edition 2 or did too much of the materials change?

Sorry, Ben, but the two are incompatible. The combat system for one had some changes. I believe in 1.0 both the character and monster roll a die. In 2.0, only the character rolls two dice and compares it to target numbers on the monster. Hence the numbers attributes on monsters are not the same. There are likely other small to moderate changes throughout, though I am not familiar with RB 1.0. Others might know more, but basically that wouldn't help.
