It has become apparent to me that the forums need some visible guidlines and not the 433 guidelines or what have you. Why do i mention this? Simple, because things tend to hit the proverbial ceiling fan here at the forums and while that may cetainly be the case in all forums, for the love of Xi-Mei, there needs to be order in the UFS forum courts. Now i know we don't have GouHadou, Antigoth, and Korrin (Hope I spelled it right) to moderate these new UFS forums and i for one am not wishing to do so b/c editing podcasts is alot of work, fun work, but work that needs to get done so the UFS fans can have something to listen to on there I-Pods. Back on topic, these are a few guidlines to consider when posting a topic or responding. And yep, neccesary clock work indeed.
1) When posting stay on Topic. This can not be stressed enough. If you want to talk about Chun-Li, be sure to keep discussing Chun-Li and make sure that those people posting understand that this is what Topic A is all about, do not add topic B because it is going to throw things off.
2) Don't expect people to always agree. This is a UFS think tank and not everyone is going to agree to what you might post. Want an example, just pay attention to this thread and I will guarantee that some people are not going to agree with me on this. It is a fact of life. So if you are out for a crusade and expect to gather knights for the cause, it might be a good idea to refrain as you will more than likely be disappointed in what others say.
3) Consider the others person's opinion and ponder it before you post. A Cool Headed induvidual looks at things from every angle, not only his own. This makes for better posts and counter arguements that are always on track with the topic thread that you are responding to. Don't respond in anger b/c you will epically fail in making your ideas clear.
4) No bashing. No name calling. Don't give me Elititst bull crap. Don't give me the Nobody talk. If people are being heard it is because they think things through. It doesn't matter who they are. If they think there poo don't stink or what have you, if they have taken the time to discuss this like a logical human being, than you should have the respect and do the same.
5) Want Drama? Go watch TNT, they know drama.
6)Swallow your pride. This goes mostly for Deck Posting. If you are not expecting constructive criticism, than why post any of your decks? (This is a just in case guidline.)
7) No profanity. I know how you guys might feel about this. Heck, i drop the f bomb alot at work, but seeing how this is a Gaming site not only for UFS, but all of FFG, we have to accept the fact that our post need to stay as clean as possible because you know as well as I do that if parents are going to blame there kids picking up bad habits, that they will more than likely point at the forums as part of the net and video games for there lack of parenting skills.
With that said, i think that we as a community need to come together and put things back into perspective. If you guys agree, cool. If you don't, cool. But with all the craziness going on here at the UFS forums, there are some things that I felt needed reinerating and so I have posted my thoughts on the matter. You guys take care and Happy New Years to you all. May 2009 ring in a new year of awesome tournaments, overcoming card gaming adversities, and awesome bouts between all UFS players. See you guys in the arena.
