New Yog Card + Snow Graves

*Yog-Sothoth

---------------------
Type: Character
Cost: 6
Skill: 7
Subtype: Ancient One
Game Text: Villainous. Invulnerability. Action: Pay 2 to choose and play a Spell event card from your discard pile without paying its cost. Then, place that card on the bottom of your deck.

I'm curious how this would work with Snow Graves (the exact text I don't have but I believe it is something like "Attach to a discard pile. Cards cannot be removed from that discard pile for any reason.")

Soooo my possible interpretations on how this interaction works when Snow Graves is attached to the Yog player's discard are:

  1. The Yog player gets to play the card from the discard pile, and it stays in the discard pile (the Then part can't trigger).
  2. The Yog player cannot play the card as it has to "leave" the discard pile to play.

It's the phrase "play a Spell event card from your discard pile". That seems to me to indicate that it is played from the discard pile itself and can get around the snow graves since it never leaves the discard pile until the "Then" part.

I can, however, certainly see the interpretation that to play it, it comes out of the discard pile and is then placed on the bottom. Although if that were the intention, I believe it should say "then instead of placing it back in the discard pile, put it on the bottom of your deck" but that's not really a justification for saying interpretation #1 is correct.

When a player plays an event from his
discard pile, it does not remain in his
discard pile, but rather is placed back
in his discard pile after the action is
complete.

Excellent! That's gotta be the case here.

(Man, I GOTTA get the FAQ and rulebook here at work)
