Hi guys have anybody read this rule?

sorpresa.gif

DW rulebook Pg 98

"Evaluate(Basic,Investigation):

....Special Uses

Weak points

... determine weak points by making a Challeging (+0) Evaluate test . Success adds +4 to the Pen of the character´s weapon for his next attack ...Each degree of success adds further +4 points of Pen. This is a Full Action .

Solid Cover:

... Challeging (+0) Evaluate test to find cover´s strongest point.Success adds an additional +4AP to the cover (for the character only) with each Degree of Success adding another +4.This is a Half action ."

Now I understand why in action movies people uses chair or tables to protect themselves from gunfire ...I´m sure they apply this rule.

Didn't see that one yet. Thanks for pointing that one out.

You left out a pretty important part of the rule for weak point, in that it only applies to a stationary target like a bunker or pillbox.

The solid cover thing is really nice though.

Is a door or wall stationary? What about a tree? I sure hope my players don't read this one... gui%C3%B1o.gif

When you read the description, it's pretty clear what it's supposed to mean. "a heavily armored stationary target such as a bunker or pillbox" doesn't leave much to the imagination, certainky can't get a tree or door from it. Besides, it's a full action. Even if they do abuse it, they can only use it once every other round. It's meant for dealing with a structure that has AP of 32, such as a bunker or pillbox.

A door can be extrapolated from that description, doors can be heavily armored and for all intents and purposes are stationary enough to be included...it's been awhile since I've seen a door on a road trip to New Jersey that wasn't on a trailer home. Maybe something like armored doors that have been locked and barricaded that lead to the main hall in a palace where those *$(%& cultists are performing some evil ritual.

Well if we're going to split hairs, doors do move, so they can't rightly be called "stationary". lengua.gif

An inmobilized vehicle is stationary? IMHO doors, walls tree and other items than usually don´t move are stationary . I have another question is stationary a pod?, suggestions? cool.gif

This could be quite nasty in combination with the demolitions skill

I'd rule that a door attached to a stationary object would indeed be considered 'stationary'.

I would also allow the use of this on a vehicle that is hull-down or that hasn't moved last turn. Of course, since it take a Full Action to use it, you'd better hope that the vehicle doesn't decide to move before your next turn either. gui%C3%B1o.gif

If I understand what was written, targeting weak points was a full action (shooting at the bad guy) but finding defensive positions was only a half action. So they could do it every round, and if they have a suspensor unit they can fire full auto in the same round lengua.gif

I would agree though, and say buildings (not walls or doors), hull down or overturned vehicles, giant rocks, etc. would be the only thing that would work. I'll just be prepared to debate this one when my players try to pull one over on me.

Also, Solid Cover doesn't require the cover to be stationary.

Evaluate does not begin as a trained- so until they invest the points into it they are rolling at basic intelligence.

I'd imagine Solid Cover could only be used once per cover to avoid stacking AP to an already decked AP marine. If the cover is constantly under siege by multiple attackers, the cover is going to degrade rapidly (every time the damage exceeds AP of the cover it gets a -1 if I'm not mistaken). So while it doesn't require for the cover to be stationary (chairs for cover anyone?), a chair will be lucky if it lasts more than a round, while also occupying one of the space marines hands and only covering one area.

Weak points only adds +4 pen (+4 additional pen for each degree of success) to the next attack only, not all subsequent.

So while seeming amazing, I don't see it entirely game breaking.
