expansion

By Simon56, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

hi everybody;

I'm planning on getting an expansion

I already have king in yellow;

between dunwich and innsmouth, which one would you choose? and why?

Thank you for your opinion

Get Kingsport. More stuff of all types (items, AOs, investigators, heralds, guardians, monsters), a never-diluting expansion mechanic, and the super-awesome Epic Battle deck.

Or, if your budget doesn't allow it, get Lurker, because the Relationship, gates, and mythos cards alone are worth it. The other stuff is just a bonus.

Bleh. I'm horrified at the Kingsport first suggestion (I mean, it has some great components, but I can't stand the board). Get Dunwich. The monsters it adds are very good. The madness/injury cards are fun. The expansion itself is rather challenging (until it's diluted). Most importantly, in my opinion, it has a lot of items that will thicken the decks (particularly the unique item deck) making it harder to browse for Elder Signs. Epic battles are really fun though :') DAM.

Between Dunwich and Innsmouth, I'd definitely pickup Dunwich first. Injury/madness are a must to use. The extra items are nice (as noted, dilute the Elder signs) and the Ancient and I really like some of the investigators.

Dunwich, Innsmouth, Kingsport... in that order... for all the reasons above.

Innsmouth adds some of the best investigators and Ancient Ones, but doesn't contain any new investigator cards(skills,allies, items).In general, the card components of all big-box expansions are great, though,.Dunwich would be a good choice for a first expansion since it adds cards to all decks.

OOPS, I misunderstood. I thought you said you had King in Yellow and Dunwich.

Dunwich first, then Kingsport, then Innsmouth.

Dunwich first. I'd say get them all at some point (they all add valuable features to the game), but Dunwich is the best to start with.

thanks for the advices

Okay, that makes more sense ;') I thought you had a brain tumor or something.

Or that you were just trying to provoke Dam ;'D

If I wanted to provoke Dam, I'd tell OP to get only Kingsport, deal out a Shotgun and Call the Azure Flame to every investigator, and add the rule that you can't win by closing all gates or sealing, but each seal removes a doom token in final combat. Additionally, those last rules don't apply to Azathoth, and he is a highly encouraged Ancient One to play against.

... Sounds more like you're trying to provoke Dam into purchasing a plane ticket, flying to your city and killing everyone in the phone book who shares your name ;')

Thibodeaus? He'd achieve more genocide in Maine or Louisiana. If he came to Baltimore trying to find all the Thibodeaus I'm sure he'd get me within a day.

Unless he runs into Omar Little or Marlo Stanfield.

Oooh, just had a great idea: Baltimore Horror!

Giant Blue Crab is an aquatic monster.
